Wow I am really shocked that there aren't a whole lot of space wolf army lists being posted. So what does everyone think of the new space wolves?

Is Logan going to get it stuck in with the Terminators, or is he going to be giving some Long Fangs Relentless/Tank Hunters? Will it depend on the opponent?

as far as logan goes, yes it will depend on my opponent, as for speed, yes i know its slow, but the amount of heavy weapons should be able to knock most opponents off objectives...hopefully, its just a fun list anyways.

Here is a faster list: (1848)

HQ
185- Canis wolf born

Troops
128-Fenrisian wolvesx15- cyber wolf
128-Fenrisian wolvesx15- cyber wolf

128-Fenrisian wolvesx15- cyber wolf
128-Fenrisian wolvesx15- cyber wolf

Fast Attack
305-Thunderwolf cavalryx5-storm shield, power fist
305-Thunderwolf cavalryx5-storm shield, power fist
285-Thunderwolf cavalryx5-storm shield, melta bomb

You're not seeing a lot of Space Wolf lists because they are not as good as your normal marines. So the wagon players are not getting on board.

cheers

This army is every bit as good if not better than the regular space marines but you need to know how to use it. It's going to require more planning and tactical thinking than normal marines....and more modeling and painting skill to make them look good.

I am a bit confused by those previous lists, however. You listed, as troops, squads of wolf guard which are elites and fenrisian wolves which are fast attack. Unless I missed something those lists aren't valid. So here is my (valid) list, as of yet untested, but I'll keep you posted.

HQ - Logan (Joined with longfangs for relentless), Runepriest in Terminator with Jaws and Spirit

Elite - 5x Wolfguard in term, 3WC, 2TH+SS (Rune priest in this squad)
Transported in Crusader w/melta
1x Wolfguard in term with cyclones (Battle leader for Longfangs)

Troop - 2x 10 man Grey Hunters w/ wolf banner and max melta guns.
1 in a Rhino, 1 in a Drop pod

Fast - 15 Fenrisian Wolves

Heavy - 5 Longfangs with Multi Melta, 1 Squad leader with melta gun
Transport Drop Pod

The idea here is to start the game with the rhino/grey hunters, landraider/wolfguard and the wolves on the table. 1st turn Logan drop pods in with the longfangs using relentless and beat some heavy armor/ monsters/ artillery into the ground. The Rhino moves in tandem with the wolves to secure an objective. The wolves will be used to screen the rhino from any drop pod melta/close combat assault and then later to screen the Grey hunters when they disembark. The wolfguard in the raider will be used as a hammer to throw at whatever heavy hitters my opponent is laying out. The other drop pod of Hunters will be my backup to secure an objective later or to support a unit in need.

I haven't tested this yet, but as soon as I get a chance I'll give you the rundown.

Both are Valid lists you did miss something... There are special Characters taht allow them to be troops which yes means you can have 40 or more Terminators that are scoring!!!

If I had the codex I would point the section out to ya but I dont have it any more as it was a gift for a great guy!

Its in the back of the codex under the HQ section for Logan he makes the wolf guard count as troops and Canis makes the wolves troops. page 82-83

as for more planning, i agree with that, but i think the hardest part is for those of us who played space wolves in older versions of their codex, i know that i'm still trying to play wolves like i did in their last codex, i really need to relearn my whole army from the ground up. I've got till next may to perfect a list though, lol.

My mistake. I did overlook those entries. I'm still learning this book and the tactics that go with it. I'm used to my orks.
