I really need to pick up a rule book and read it. But anyways what is the rules for shooting with units that have ranks(units that have for example 5 unit ranks with about 5 ranks)?

Only the first rank in a unit may fire. If the unit is on a hill, a second rank may fire. And yes, go pick up the skull pass mini-rulebook on ebay.

There is an exception, when shooting at a large target, every model in the unit can shoot.

page 9 in the small rulebook.
"a Dragon(large target) can be seen and shot at by enemy models over interposing friendly models that are not large targets, even by models in the back ranks of a unit of troops armed with missle weapons."
