I finally decided to try playing a GT tourney myself and set aside all of my pre-comceptions. The winner of it all was playing an army that is illegal according to normal rules. He played an Empire list with 4 Dogs of War units in it. The new Empire book does not allow Dogs of War. I finished in 36th place out of 46 people.

Here is the numbers breakdown:

14th place for game score: 2 wins by major victory, 2 draws and 1 lose by major lose.

45th place for sportsmanship even though ...

Its that time of year again. We've been running an RTT for about eight or nine years now.

We usually fill up, so sign up early. Remember the only way to register is to pay the entry fee of $10. You can pay me in person or send a paypal to me at bill@tekbot.com. Army lists will be due one week prior to the event.

I'm going to push the date back a bit this year. So it looks like we'll shoot for Feb 20th, at 10:00am at the Guard Tower.

Quote:Bram Gaunts Skaven summary.

I had a nice long look into the Army book, and as a passionate Warhammer player I absorbed as much info as I could.

I might be wrong at some details, still, I think I got all that's necessary to give a good overview. Remember that I hail from germany, and therefore I translated most of it as good as possible.

Between a crazy miscast table and Animosity I'm a bit hesitant to build and paint such a force, but here are my initial thoughts towards 2250:

Warboss

lvl 2

lvl 2

6 units of Night Goblins

4 units of Fast Cav

4 Bolt Throwers

2 units of Squigs

Doom Diver

GIANT

..so more Goblins than Orcs, but huge infantry blocks that are not ASF, 4+ Ward, Fear, ItP or Hate everyone pretty ...

For those of you that have the Vampire Counts army codex, if I were to get into Fantasy and make a VC army, would I be able to make an entire army out of skeletons? I know I'd have to have an HQ, but is there an option for entirely all skeletons? I've been considering doing a Fantasy army, but the only army that seems to garner my interest would be skeletons... I know there is Grave Guard, which are skeletons as well, so I'd have some of those mixed in as well. Am I completely nuts here?

While I truly believe the current edition of Warhammer Fantasy Battle is a nice balanced/fair core ruleset, what makes players frustrated at times are the quirky items that break that core (ala "broken") framework. As of late army-wide rules (or Hydras :p) have entered the fray, but I'd like to limit the discussion on which magic items/combos have squeezed by playtesters and now cannot help but draw sighs and eyerolls from you players.

Ok so ive pretty much got an idea for what im gonna run in my 2000pts Wood Elves list but i cant decide what i should take as a Lord choice.

A Spellweaver would add some real nice magic support

A Highborn would really help in close combat and for panic tests

Treeman Ancient isnt really worth it taking up a Lord and Rare choice

Orion is a beast but he would really messup the Force Chart making glade Guard only Special and no Waywatchers

I dont really wanna make a forest ...

So, I have my High Elf army, and I love it, but I want to get a second army because I've actually convinced my fiancee to try and play with me. With that in mind, we've got it narrowed down to the Dwarfs and the Wood Elves.

It seems to me that the Wood Elves are a bit more a faster attacking, hit and run-type army, whereas the Dwarfs, with their higher toughness and slower movement, are more the stand and fight type army.

With all that, which army would you choose and why?

With the size of the Ogres, will there Core units be on a bigger sized based, or will it be the standard size?(Infantry)

As far as the Lizard men, do they need an update in there army, or are they ok for present day play still?

The dark elf models are incredible. They look just like a terrifying velociraptor-type dinosaur should.

The current lizardmen cold one models look to me like the "land before time" version of a velociraptor that has been made goofier looking. This is still an improvement over the even older hump-back cold ones. "Go and waddle ...
