Consolidating Units with 5th

So from what I read when you win a combat now you CAN"T consolidate into a unit not already locked into combat. This means stuff like kroot and conscripts place infront of their respective gunline become much more important. Not to mention things like death company, harlequins, and others can just get to a gunline and blow through it by themselves.

How do you all see this effecting your army? I think scouts might find themselves in my army just to move up and take charges and get wiped out, spend 75 - 100 pts to make sure my gunline gets at least on turn to shoot your uber assault unit.

Overall I see this as the balance to the new run rule. You are going to loose about one turn of long range shooting to get a turn of double tapping, thats all good in my book. Smile

Dont worry buddy thats why you have 30 man units with T4 Smile Not to mention you can have 6 if you really want too. I think Snikrot holding down dev squads or the equivalent will be your kep to success.

The Consolidation move may be used to contact
enemy models and engage them in combat, but
only if the enemy units are not already locked in
close combat. If the enemy is already locked in
combat, the consolidating unit cannot enter the
existing fight, confused by the swirling melee of
friends and foes.

I think it's just the opposite if I'm reading this right (sentence two). Harlies could still run a gunline as long as the unit they consolidated into wasn't already in combat.

Of course this is a debate about something I personally dont have yet. But the few people that seem to have gotten a copy of 5th edition have said otherwise. I just can't wait for my copy of 5th.
