PostSubject: STAR WARS minis - Anyone interested? Do They Qualify?   Tue Apr 15, 2008 2:10 am

I finally got around to organizing all my STAR WARS minis in an effort to find very generic-looking ones for that MARTIAN REBELLION idea that I had.

What I discovered is that I have a TON of SW Minis.

Any of guys consider that a minis Wargame?

I've got enogh Stormtroopers and Rebels commons and uncommons here to one hell of a battle on the tables at the store. HeQ, I even have Dwarven Forge Sci-Fi corridors if we wanted to make it like one of the movies.

So,...anyone interested?

Collected an Imperial force myself Ed. Probably don't have a ton of other figures like you but a few small tubs worth.

Say the word, I'm game.

FRINGE - I have a HUGE number of those guys.

IMPERIAL Stormtropers - LOTS of those guys.

Republic/CLONE TROOPERS - Also have a pretty good number of these guys.

MANDALORIANS - have wound up, quite unexpectedly with a LOT of those guys.

Now, remember for the last 3 or 4 years I was buying these hoping for "generic" looking figs that didn't scream out "HEY!, I'm from the STAR WARS universe!" when you looked at them. The main reason I bought all these figs was for use in my GURPS :TRAVELLER game (Or now the Martian Revolution thing)

Now, I'm actually about trying the STAR WARS mini game itself.

Not worried about tournaments and things. Is it possible to "toss" the grid maps and use the terrain at the store along with tape measures for the combat ranges and stuff?

I remember the old Traveller game. There was something special about having character generation going great and then they die before ever making it to the game.

If you have any of the material for Martian Revolution at the store between games and painting it would be nice to see it. If that's ok and possible.

Need to read up on the rules but is there a good time to squeeze in some SW at some point or would you possibly need a game day for that?

CJ,

SO, you know how to play then??
(LOL)

If I loaned you some of my commons - would you mind having a skirmish or two?

do they qualify... yes and no

SWM is based on the DDM minis rules set
so it's more of a "Skirmish" or "Combat Patrol" type game
(as a refrence)

however,
using the DDM rules set, there is quit a lot you can do and quite a LOT of diversity that can me mixed in to the game to make things new and exciting each time

Not to mention 2 new and progressive designers in the mix designing scenarios that are worth playing and don't requier the uber rare $40 mini

I'd say it counts.

It's miniatures.... on a table top... and it's a game.

It's just smaller scale is all.

What if we got rid of the square grids?

Those layouts its each square equals 1 inch, so it the range and movement numbers would be the same, we'd just have to use tape measures.

We could also use regular 3-d terrain pieces.
