Rules Empty
PostSubject: Rules   Rules EmptyThu May 01, 2008 9:31 am

More will get added, we are all busy busy bees Smile

We'll try answer any questions in the original post too.

So, onto the rules...

Rules

Everything must be WYSIWYG

Any kit bought beyond the regular profile equipment must be modeled.

No Forgeworld/Apocalypse rules or units

Counts as is fine, if you have any questions on this then post 'em.

Things to bring

Bring the following:

1. Your models Smile

2. 5 copies of your army list (printed or VERY clearly written) 1 for you and 1 for each opponent. The last one is for submitting to the judges (so that all you cheaters can be exposed!) Make sure to include your name on the list. Army builder lists are fine (in fact desired).

3. Rulebooks and codex books you need. Also any official FAQ's from GW.

4. Pen and something to jot points onto (the back of the score ticket is ok I suppose Wink)

5. Dice and templates

6. Tape measure

7. Perhaps some super glue for breakages!

8. This Puppy

http://www.adepticon.org/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=10

There will be copies at the event too.

I hear you ask "will i die from starvation?"

The answer is no, food will be supplied by our friends "MARKARI FILL THIS IN!"

Ok, on the more nitty gritty

Armies have to be less than or equal to 1750 points (man I miss 1850).

If you have an error, then you can't win any composition prizes! If the error is too severe (or if there are too many), disqualification may be a result!

Your army must use the most recent codex available to it. No 3.5 Ed of Codex Chaos Wink

Armies Allowed

Allowed Army Lists

You will need a copy of the FAQ for you codex if there is one. So make sure to download and print it. You can find them Here

Chaos Space Marines
Codex: Chaos Space Marines

Dark Eldar
Codex: Dark Eldar, Second Edition

Eldar
Codex: Eldar

Forces of the Inquisition
Codex: Daemonhunters

Codex: Witch Hunters

Inquisitorial armies may take Space Marine and Imperial Guard allies as defined by the army list in question.

Witch Hunter Zealots (White Dwarf 292)

Imperial Guard
Codex: Imperial Guard – Doctrines may be used. If using a regiment with defined Doctrines in the Codex (e.g., Tallarns, Mordians), these Doctrines must be used.

Imperial Guard Armored Company Rules (from any source) are not allowed.

Imperial Guard armies may take Inquisitorial allies as defined in Codex: Daemonhunters or Codex: Witch Hunters.

Necrons
Codex: Necrons

Orks
Codex: Orks

Space Marines
Codex: Space Marines – Traits may be used. If using a Chapter with defined Traits in the Codex, those must be used (unless doing counts as with another army codex).

Codex: Dark Angels must be used for Dark Angels armies. You may use a Space Marine Chapter of your own creation (or successor chapter) with Codex: Dark Angels. However, if you do so, you must make sure that your opponent is not misled in any way and that he/she is clearly aware of the rules you are using.

Codex: Blood Angels as published in White Dwarf 329 and 330 must be used for Blood Angels armies. You may use a Space Marine Chapter of your own creation (or successor chapter) with Codex: Blood Angels. However, if you do so, you must make sure that your opponent is not misled in any way and that he/she is clearly aware of the rules you are using.

Codex: Space Wolves is used in conjunction with Codex: Space Marines. Errata on using these books in conjunction can be found on Games Workshop’s web site. You may use a Space Marine Chapter of your own creation (or successor chapter) with Codex: Space Wolves. However, if you do so, you must make sure that your opponent is not misled in any way and that he/she is clearly aware of the rules you are using.

Codex: Black Templars must be used for Black Templar armies, and those rules can be used to represent Crusader forces (again, opponents must be clearly aware of this). You may use a Space Marine Chapter of your own creation (or successor chapter) with Codex: Black Templars. However, if you do so, you must make sure that your opponent is not misled in any way and that he/she is clearly aware of the rules you are using.

Space Marine armies may use Inquisitorial allies as defined in Codex: Daemonhunters or Codex: Witch Hunters.

Deathwatch Kill Teams (U.S. GW Site) are permitted.

Codex: Eye of Terror (Space Wolves 13th Company)

Tau
Codex: Tau Empire

Kroot Mercenary armies from Chapter Approved are permitted.

Tyranids
Codex: Tyranids

Scoring

There will be 120 points possible for the day. The 60 points from games will be used to rank the winners of the tournament, with the other points being used for soft prizes.

Scoring (60 points possible)

Games

Massacre
winner - 20
loser - 0

Major Victory
winner - 17
loser - 3

Minor Victory
winner - 13
loser - 7

Draw
winner - 10
loser - 10

Sportsmanship (30 possible)

each game you will rate your opponent between 0 and 10

10 meaning it was the best game you ever played.

5 an average game.

0 meaning it was the worst, you would not play this player again.

Painting + Modeling (30 possible)

each game you will rate your opponents army based upon the painting/modeling quality.
If the army is partially painted, rate it on what they do have done (the score will then be halved by the judges).

10 the paint job is one of the best you have ever seen, the modeling is the equally amazing.

5 the modeling and painting is average

0 the player did not paint or model much, or has done a poor job.

FAQ

Quote :
Do I have to play you first round, Marc, the second, and Makari the third??

Although CJ undoubtedly meant this to be disruptive (thx CJ Wink). I will answer it.

No you will not (most likely). The first game will involve randomized opponents, the 2nd and 3rd will be based on rank. So in round 2, 1st and 2nd place will face one another, 3rd and 4th and so on. Then this will be re-evaluated for round 3.

Quote :
If a model has a pistol holster, and instead of a laspistol, you want him to have a bolt pistol, that's acceptable, right?

Yup that is perfectly fine. It couldn't be a lasgun or a anything unreasonable obviously.

Quote :
we are new, and still don't have templates, do we need them to use the weapons?

It will probably be ok to borrow templates, but I would suggest that you get some... you'll need to at some point anyway. If you do borrow, be quick to return them (if they are from another table).

Quote :
My son would like to come (but not play), are spectators allowed?

Sure can, as long as they know not to touch or bother players (in the case of children and adults like CJ Wink)

Quote :
do all jetbikes and skimmers need to use their plastic floaty base?

Preferably, but as it isn't needed 'rules wise' then no they are not required.

Quote :
Should I bother to finish painting my army?

Yes there will be soft prizes for things like painting, composition and sportsmanship. You already won a prize though, not sure if we are going to double up (others need love too). We'll make a post on prizes.

Post any questions you have and I will update the FAQ

Just one quick question, personally, if we use Army Builder to do up our points, there shouldn't be any problems with the army it helps build, right? I just want to make sure that what I get from that should be ok and that I'm not at risk for having a bad list (it says I'm at 1749 right now).

Also, a WYSIWYG question, if a model has a pistol holster, and instead of a laspistol, you want him to have a bolt pistol, that's acceptable, right?

I guess that's two questions....

The only way Ian would be disruptive to me would be him telling what I should be doing with my army in the game. Very Happy

So yes we will have food! A local baker will be passing out a cookie and a slice of Cake for everyone.
I will have bottle water and maybe some sodas kept cold, some candy or snacks available at a lower price than the stores charge.
A local restaurant will be providing lunch, still working on that... If that doesn't pan out I will have good tasting food brought in for very cheap.
I'll have more information by May 11th.

If anyone has any ideas or issues with this please PM me. Thanks.

Have any of the T.O.s or judges had a chance to look over the INAT faq on Dakka Dakka or Adeptus Windy City? I'm coming down with a half dozen or so from my club and Mike Early is bringing his crew, and we all got a first hand experience with the document at Adepticon

I'm not trying to ram it down anybody's throats, but in my opinion it does clarify many rules issues and streamline games. Either way, let us know whether to bring the faq binder with us.

If you still need terrain, I can bring a boxful or two. I have hills and buildings primarily. Let me know what you need most and maybe we can oblige...

Any and all terrain will be appreciated, this bubbled up to something way bigger than first intended... so the more the merrier.

As far as the FAQ, I have looked it over and agree with just about everything in there. I don't anticipate too many problems.

Worth any of the people judging things to look at though.

Everyone being mature and dealing with things themselves is the best bet though. If it's a game breaker we'll whip out an FAQ (or a fight to the death).

We'll have copies printed, or on a laptop.

So we are using the FAQ from the Adepticon website? If so are you making any changes to it for the tournament?

I've read through that before, it's pretty good in my opinion. They at least take a position on most if not all RAW debates, where no matter how hard you try to read it as written it isn't written well enough to do so.

Like firing between the legs of defilers and such.

I'd recommend using it, although the players around here will have to read through it beforehand to make sure it doesn't make a minor tweak to the way they are used to playing.

And while this won't be a problem cause I can't make it, but it has no 13th Co rulings.

Ok, let's go ahead and use the INAT FAQ.

Although everyone should remember that the FAQ is for AFTER a disagreement has occurred. Having everyone relearn how to play exactly like the INAT FAQ isn't completely reasonable (although I think most of us already do).

Just using it for argument settling will suffice.

It's now linked in the OP.

"Any kit bought beyond the regular profile equipment must be modeled."

Does this mean: example- like plague marines come with bolt pistols, but the actual models for p-marines are not modeled with pistols and so they would be fine without them being modeled?
Maybe I'm not catching onto this, just a clarification. thanks
