| So after looking over Makari's ork horde of 170 models I came up with this. I think its got what it takes to make a game of things. If I do play Necrons at the tourny I doubt this is what my list will be. Just thought it would be fun to throw down.
235 Monolith 288 Warriors x16 252 Warriors x14 280 Immortals x10 300 Deciever 185 Lord: Res Orb, Phase Shifter, Phylactery 72 Scarabs x6 72 Scarabs x6 60 Scarabs x5
1744 60 models 41 Necrons 10 Phase Out

| Unless you hide that c'tan, he's a large vunerable target for shooting. Believe me He's the first that I would take out. Opponents will concentrate most if not all heavy fire on him. It looks good though. Why not use two monoliths and use the 2 tower tactic, you got mass amounts of shooting. | |

| out of habit i had to look at it from my armies perspective...
that c'tan would be ignored at first, then, before it would get close enough, it would go down in 1 round of shooting. The scarabs are a nasty little tactic, though i would probably concentrate on them first round (i imagine they are turbo boosting for turn 2 tie up any unit they want?)
gimme more tactics, especially for how you would deal with the ork list. That i want to hear.

| IF he gets near you. With my Daemon hunters 10 psycannons (no inv save), he's toast before he gets to me. I'll play the numbers even though they will need 6's to wound. | |

| Yeah they are pretty cool! As the c'tan moved towards me, I could move also and fire at him keeping the distance between us. | |

| Meh, C'tan are easy to ignore... but the deciever is still pretty rad.
Against a horde list (like Makaris proposed one) the c'tan would be wreaking some serious havoc.

| yeah its definitely rock-out madness...
pathfinders would make quick work of him.. but 30 orks would be toast pretty rapidly.
nothing would touch the lith.
i wanna see this! | |

| Ever thought about using the "wraithstorm" tactic? It has worked well for a fellow gamer of mine. Also 3 units of Destroyers are good, especially holding objectives and table quarters. Turbo to the objective in turn 6 to contest or take it. They can unleash alot of fire power. | |

| Dume, he has been playing Necrons for some time now. I think what he is getting at with this list is to play with something that would work against Makaris horde.
His normal lists are a lot more nasty (and include some of the things you mentioned).
I think wraith storm is decent, but seems to get bogged down for a long time against most opponents.

| I must have misunderstood his intentions, it seemed he was making a list to be competative with Makaris ringer list if he used it. I didn't claim he was inexperienced with Necrons and it shouldn't be taken as such. I would not assume to think that any of you are inexperienced with their army as we don't know each other or even have played each other. Tactic wise, you would be surprised to know how many players don't know many tactics for their own lists, other than kill, kill, kill. Wraith storm is very effective especially if you use a lord with a destroyer body and war scythe running with them. 9 wraiths with 3 attacks, 36 on the charge at str. 6, not including you lord.... I'll take those numbers. | |

| Yeah, running a lord with them goes without saying.
I'm not too worried about a wraith rush. It's a lot of points on the necron players end to tie a unit up. Hell, they are killy but not killy enough to warrant the cost.
I see wraiths as being the one thing to get a big improvement in the next necron codex release. They really need it for how much they cost.

| My understanding is they will get rending (which in the new rulebook it won't be as effective), plus FNP should make them more bang for the buck. | |

| Yup, same rumors I've been seeing.
Although they were once rumored to be one of the next couple of releases.
Seems that they are being pushed further and further out though.

| Just like my Daemon hunters, they were rumored to be combined with witch hunters to form 1 codex to be released soon. Then there was nothing. They (GW) get your hopes up , like a woman, then shoot you down in flames. BASTARDS! | |

| Some of you guys are right that you can field things to beat my Deciever but its still isnt as easy as you make it sound. I just wanted to point out that the Deciever, IMO, owns the whole new Chaos, BA (Death Company can be a problem), DA, and Orks codex (outside of a large nob unit with PK's and I mean large 8+).
Anyways I did say that I just wanted to go at Makaris horde with this list as I think it would be a fun game.
Back in 3rd I ran a wraith list when it was 1850. I only used 6 wraiths and the destroyer lord though. I have found that most the table terrain I play on know isnt good for a wraith list. The models are to tall and even with 3 or 2 squads most army can shoot out 6-9 of them dead.
I haven't actually played a Flying Circus list as I dont have that many Destroyers and Heavy Destroyers, but I am familiar with the concept. I like a mix of Immortals and Destroyers in 4th because of escalation.

| i thought flying circus was a harlies/falcons-only term? clowns, flying things, i just thought they went together. anyways.. nice sig matt i agree with you steve, though, there isnt much in an average players list that can take it down. | |

| "Flying Circus" is the practice of taking 6-man Harlequins squads with Kisses and mounting them in Immortal Falcons (Holofields, Spirit Stones, Vectored Engines, etc...). Typically done in a Tri-Falcon list. | |

| Ryan knows, he just thought the term was Eldar only, and didn't in some way apply to a Necron force. So did I. | |

| It is Eldar only. He (Ryan) was right, it doesn't apply to Necrons. | |

| I heard the name used before the new Eldar codex even came out, maybe it was only localized to my area at the time. Anyways sorry for the confusion. | |
