| Category - Single Figure for WH40K. Up to a 40 mm base size,
Painting Classifications: Beginner, Journeymen, and Experienced. This will be self defined by the painter. I expect most folks to be in the journeyman or experienced category.
Scoring: 20 for Overall figure - Use of color to tie the figure together, set a mood. 10 for face/focal point - the high point of the model to define its character 10 for weapons/equipment - 10 for base - self made or painted resin. 10 for orginality: conversions, color schemes, out of the box.
Handicaps. Beginners +15 pts Journeymen + 9 pts Experienced + 0 pts
Dates Entries will be submitted on June 26th Thursday @ SciFi City by 7pm. If you can't make it I will see if Sci Fi will arrange some display space for drop offs.
Judging blind and by myself.
Prizes - 1st place - 1 box set up to $50 2nd place - 1 blister up to $15
Raffle: All contestants will be entered into a raffle for a 5th Edition WH40K rulebook.
Rulebook will be pre ordered and delivered on the street date of the 5th Edition not the day of judging.
Multiple entries are permitted but there will be only 1 raffle ticket per contestant, not per figure entered into the contest.
Disqualifications: 1. The figure must be without paint today - Based and primed is fine. I can't check this but I will assume we are all gentlemen and ladies 2. The entry must show effort...ie a meaningful attempt to score in the categories. A figure dipped in 3 paint pots and static grass thrown on top will not be eligible for the raffle.
The intent of this contest is to see some painted figs. I will be taking photos of the entrants as well on the 26th.
Cheers and good luck. Don't hesitate to post any questions. WIP photos are permitted.
John
ps. Matt - can I get a sticky on this and I wasn't really sure where to post. gracias.

It isn't about being the best but presenting the best you can do. The handicap takes care of leveling the playing field. Besides...there is always the raffle. I really love to see a lot of entries into this contest. |

| John M, what happend to the painting workshop? Mid (to late)-May now, end late June... yeah I think I can come up with something. My painting may be slow but if the figure can later be used in July that's some good incentive. Most important are good clear rules that make sense and are fair. Thank you. You know which category I'll be in. | |

| Sounds like a good chance to try some new techniques! I think I'll try to get an inquisitor painted or something like that! | |

Yottaquest - No SciFi City - No response to PM (yet) Tried Hobby Lobby (they've got rooms in back but they close at 8pm) I want somewhere that we can run this for 7 months through year end. I haven't given up yet and I am still making efforts to find someone who wants to host it. |

Eric probably has to check on a few things. If he doesn't resond by next Thursday let me know and I'll throw a flip-flop at him to get things rolling. So is this really intended as 40K only?

| I would think that its geared towards and model painting such as 40k and fantasy or any of the other games. If nothing else I could set my basement up for it, has excellent lighting and I could move stuff around and get some tables to support atleast 10 people painting with lots of room maybe more. | |

Not if you can whoop them. @ Bob - yes 40K only. It was considering the raffle prize and kind of a Run up the the 5th Ed. Release. |

Nick has much the same sentiment with Kill Team. Until he breaks down and does birdy-mercs. Looks like I'll be doing some inquistor work. A shame really because I have another conversion for a Deamon Hunter Lord in Termie armor, modled a psycannon and everything.
