| Here is the start of my Space Marine Journal. It started with the hunt for a color scheme. I've settled on the following after several plays on Bolter and Chainswords Marine painter 3.0. Here is a first attempt to duplicate the recipe on a Macrage Marine. The base isn't finished and he doesn't have a back pack but I think the scheme carries well to the figures. The biggest issue was finding the color brown I needed in a spray. I settled on Tamiya Red/Brown. It matches the VMC English Uniform and allows for easy bench touch ups and inks easily with black. I haven't settled on a chapter icon. I also plan to use the decals versus painting although I am tempted to order the should pads from the online store with the squad designations. Later, John

| Shawn Kilgore had a similar scheme a few GTs back. A whole army in that scheme will look fantastic on the tabletop John. Well done. Welcome to the darkside | |

Welcome to the darkside Any links to that army? I'm not beyond pinching some good ideas. The only thing dark is the space in my wallet where my money used to be.... |

| Hey John, another thing to think about when it comes to space marine color schemes is what to do for veteran squads and the like. You will see in the marine codex that most chapters do something to denote what type of unit they are (some just use different shoulder icons, whereas others use different helmet colors and so forth). Worth thinking about though. Looks nice though, glad to have playing 40k! Welcome to the downward spiral (or is it upward? ) | |

Yep...already have the shoulder iconography worked out. Elite, Assault, tact, heavy... as well as squad designation (I to VI). ie. 3rd tactical squad of the 2nd company in the White Eagle chapter. I'm also have a sargent's helmet scheme that I have worked out. I'm not sure on the Veterans yet. |

| Using the same as on the sergeant (who is a vet) would work, just on an entire squad.
You probably have this covered too, but you should make sure to designate squads correctly (if it matters to you). So 9th + 10th in a regular marine company are devastator squads, 7th + 8th are assault and the others tactical.

| Just so nobody thinks I'm slacking I've been spending the last week taking figs off sprues, cleaning and assembling. Here is my army to date. I still have a some more units to assemble and clean (Termies - old and new, Assault troops, and 15 more Tactical Marines.). Figs look to need a little dusting. The Troops were prime sprayed with my new airbrush. I hope to use it on the armor. Vindicator - Rhino Whirlwind with the indirect missle format. Land Raider Scouts Devastator Squad 5 man Maccrage Tactical Squad. 10 man Tactical Squad - |

| Haha, no idea how anyone could say you slack.
All I managed this weekend was to highlight a strap on a marine... How's that for progress!

| Very weak, I do juggle 30 hours of class (for 18 credit hours!) + about another 25 on homework.
Oh and then there is grand theft auto 4...

Oh and then there is grand theft auto 4.. . How does 18 credit hours turn into 30 in class? Is that a lot of 'lab' time at 3:1. 25 hours of homework....wow. I don't think I ever did that when I was a biochem major (I might have been as assigned 25 hours but I certainly didn't do it.). - Quote :

and out pops the real reason for the 'Grey' Legions. |

| Envy all the massive amount of painting skill you guys have. I really like the idea for the way the marines are turning out. | |

| OK just a verbal update. I finished assembling my figures and based on Sunday last.
5 Assault Termies, 15 more Tact marines Cleaned and assembled my old school metal termie box Command box 10 Old metal beakie Tact squad 1 libby 1 Chaplain 5 assualt marines
Airbrushed Primed them all with Fabric Paint....arrgh...see sucking thread middle of weak.
Thur: Finally finished stripping 60 odd Space Marines. Now I have to rebase and reprime..... sigh. What a wasted week. I was really excited to get back to the painting table. Hopefully that will be tomorrow if I can rebase and prime more quickly. |
