Has anyone thought of running a campaign in 40k? I know that ones being planned for fantasy but why not 40K? Just a thought. Could be fun.

I've run and played in a ton. Only problem for me right now is not being in the same place for too long and a massive lack of time.

I'd love to be in one if we got one up and running though.

I have one all planned out on paper, just that I want to run a multi-week one, and hard to get ppl to commit to anything more than 2-3 weeks or even just a weekend

You could always run it along the lines of the fluff. Not completely dickign anyone over, but run games when and how you can, and hell you never know when your ships are going to show up at a certain sector....i'm hoping i'm making sense.

I understand, but I am WAY to structured for a fly by night campaign. It would turn into a headache for me, and those are not fun... never know I may try something, but I wouldn't hold your breath, my commitment to 40k is fleeting at best Rolling Eyes

I have a two-game-day campaign... or mini campaign that I ran once at Cincinnati Scifi and again at WoHaG. There was detailed information on one of my websites but I can't find it. So either I am a total idiot or GW got my ISP to take the site down (odd since I didn't violate any points or copy righted rules).

The premise is to get in a bunch of crazy crazy battles that ends with one brawling battle.

The set-up step goes. Build a Kill Team and a 2K expedition force and a 1K main force (or some other point ratio). The mission is that one of the sectors on the map has a hidden base or hidden item that everyone is after for whatever reason. The expedition force is divided up into pairs of (force chart) units or left by themselves and secretly assigned to locations on the map.

The first game step has each player's Kill Team go on a mission. If successful they get to know which map location is the correct one and their main force is assigned there. If the kill team fails then the points are reduced and the player has to divide them up like the expiation and assign them map locations.

The second step has the battles farthest from the objective sector get played on 4'x4' with the survivors getting to travel between sectors (based on their Movement) towards the main objective. In the past we've had survivors walk into another fight at the oddest moments. Battle continue stepping up closer to the main objective.

Third big step. When all of the mini fights are done a final big brawl for the main objective. Supplemented by the survivors from the mini-fights stumbling in.

It gets pretty crazy and requires a fair bit of effort to keep track of things. In the past I kept track of who showed up when, the players needing to have account of survivors. Normal 40K is like 6 turns. Because of the movement between sectors I've had units lined up to arrive at the main fight on turn 20, if it were to go that long.

That sounds like a hellofa game! Could be fun, and confusing in equal amounts i agree. The main reason i brought htis up is I was perusing GW's site and saw the faqs about the Mighty Empires for fantasy, figured why not 40k? Instead of wizards towers have promethian deposits to gain an extra vehicle and different worlds to really add more flavor to battles. Its rare to see a snow covered plain battle or a volcanic hell hole one(like in the new white dwarf for mordors release for lotrmg). It'd a bit more flavor i would think.
