Effects Of 5th Ed Empty
PostSubject: Effects Of 5th Ed   Effects Of 5th Ed EmptyTue Jun 03, 2008 5:41 pm

So as I see the rumors of 5th Ed coming out, its becoming apparently clear that it seems GW HATES the Tau. I mean does anyone have any useful rumors that will be helping the Tau and not killing them. It seems everyone has gotten a little boost off of the 5th coming out but the Tau look to be left in the dust by everyone. Any one care to help on this. I could be completely wrong I know some of the skimmer rules will help but thats like all of one aspect.

Firewarriors should actually get a big bump I feel. And you won't have to buy them all devilfish.

Now assaults are deadlier, but you never won in assault anyway, but opposing armies can no longer consolidate from one unit to the next, so you can have rows of warriors that will get to open up on the enemy after they win each assault

How about tanks getting cover saves, and markerlights removing cover saves? I think this will be a pretty big advantage. Tau will also be the premier anti-tank army with Necrons taking the -2 glancing penalty.

Along the same line of think that JMarv pointed out. Think about equipping all your tanks with gun drones now. The drones can go out and block assualts and any unit is going to blow through a 2 man drone team. Your opponent gets no KP or VP for them so I see it becoming a huge Tau tactic, might replace kroot.

Besides the new area LOS rules effecting Crisis JSJ, and that can be fixed with new terrain building, where do Tau actually get hurt? The biggest problem before was units leapfrogging threw your army and that got nerfed. They can't even clip units anymore because everyone has counter attack so even a FW squad is going to be dead or break everytime now, the -1 for each wound you lose combat by and the Ld 8 isnt going to hold.

I really see Tau becoming a top list. They are one of the few armies that have multiple S5 shots in units to handle hordes. You might want Stealth Suites instead of Crisis for the same reasons Marc already pointed out.

You have to relize tho that this game will always be about Space Marines, Orks, and Nids. They are the backbone of this game and forever will be.

I think Kroot are going to be a big threat in 5th.
