Me and mike have been playing the crap out of this. Any one else have it and want to try their luck? I am on xbox live. I only wish it could be modded to the WHFB world like the third game for PC. Oh well its still wonderful.

I wouldn't say its dumbed down. It's streamlined for online play. Granted it's a bit buggy but it is actually playable in a few hours as compared to the days to weeks it would take to play previous civilizations in multiplayer. There is a lot of subtly to the strategy when you play online since you are no longer dealing with a predictable AI and some people will just whoop you, luck helps too.

Damn man you beat me to it....

I would prefer to have a more intracite version that gets dumbed down for online play!

Actually it's because of things like a yearly charge that developers are able to do patches. Otherwise they have to move onto to the next project but with a small cash flow you can pay a programmer or two to work on patches periodically. Of course you seem like the kind of guy that votes down school levees than bitches about how dumb your average american is. You get what you pay for. There is a reason why xbox titles get patched while many ps3 games are left in release mode, which is honestly unforgivable. Oh and my year long subscription to xbox is less than one box of games workshop minis. Ass.

P.S. Hey anyone have something constructive and/or interesting to say about CIVILIZATION?

You guys should be too old to be so damn contrary and condescending.

Well if you had read I had already posted and given props to the game.
I'm a huge fan of the other civ games and I do like playing other people but not for several hours and of course the ones that keep jetting out on you... the Revolution game is cool I'm happy to see it on teh home systems but I thought that a lot more could have been done seeing as the Blu-ray discs have sooo much more room on them to do stuff but I'm not sure if that is enough to be relevent to creating a better game.

I'd Rather save that money for another game or a box of minis.

I haven't had any issues with games being patched or not.
CoD4, Madden, NCAA, Wall-E, Legos (starwars & Indiana Jones), MLB the Show, all those are fine playing no issues for me, in fact the patches seem to get annoying as often as they are sometimes. And that Xbox live subscrition does not pay for your patches... that pays for xbox to have some nice bells and whistles for online play.

Now having said all this I am not a big time gamer and am generally happy with what comes out so I'm not really one to be the one to measure these kind of things.

On another note DO NOT presume and label me as something that I am not. Unless you actually know me or anyone for that matter don't try to categorise them, just because you get your panties in a bunch over some friendly jabbing. I consider the XBOX and PS3 Rivalry a fun rivalry.

Please save me your "you don't know me" crap. You are right I don't know you except for how you have presented yourself here. Now chances are you will not have me over for family dinner so I have to work off of impressions and if it talks like a horse, smells like a horse, and looks like a horse I sure as hell am not going to call it a dog. And I could go back a few threads and bring out you're little tantrum you threw because "You were sick of all the people dissing PS3" thats not friendly talk, thats fanboi dom. And yes the money I pay for does help for patching, on the microsoft side. They ensure that my game stays current with the modern protocols and runs smoothly on their beautiful online network. Sorry your big post count doesnt cowl me and that I am not your average docile beta gamer. It's a sad day when I am posting on dakka dakka rather than cag because the muppetdom is less prevalent. I just wanted to challenge people to Civ. Christ.

Anywho cant we all just get along!!! I'm actually a pretty nice guy and not an ass, ANd I don't think my post count should be counted as anything but that...

so that aside

I agree with you on wanting to see a WHFB Map. Do they have Map mods? I have played a couple of games to end but I haven't explored all the games capabilities yet, do they have a map settings area? IMy only complaint on the game is too many islands and not big enough land masses.
I like the interactiveness of the barbarians although making the mongols and I think another culture that absorbs teh barbarian cities when conquered!....
