My name is Ian, and I work at KrystalKeep Games and Hobbies in Kettering, Ohio. I was just posting some of our events for you, so you guys might come up to Kettering for some fun and prizes! Here's a run down of our future events through October:

The KrystalKeep will be hosting a Warhammer Fantasy Battles Tournament on Saturday, August 30th. Bring 2,250 pts of mayhem for this technology forsaken battle royale! Leave the Special Characters at home though; Teclis and Kroak have to sit this one out! Is your army not quite what one would call “painted”? Well, no problem, the aim here is to have fun and bust helmets. Just make sure your opponent can tell what he’s fighting, there’s no painting required.
Registration will start at 10 A.M. sharp and the first round will begin promptly at 11 A.M.. Entry fee is $10 with prizes galore!

On the 13th of September, KrystalKeep will be hosting qualifiers for this year’s ‘Ard Boyz circuit. Bring 2,500 pts of gob-smashing goodness and prove that you’re as good as you boast. Warhammer 40K Doubles Tournament, Sept 27thThrough no end of sneaking, stealing and subterfuge we have come into the possession of the GW Doubles Tournament rules from all the way across the pond. That means it’s time to paint up 500 pts and find a buddy with the same, because on September 27th KrystalKeep will be holding our first Doubles Tourney.
Teams consist of two players, each contributing 500 pts to make a single, painted army. That’s right, as crazy as it sounds; there is a painting stipulation for this tournament. Do not despair, however, as there will be prizes for the best army present! We are still busy ripping apart the packet and gluing it back to make it actually work for 5th Edition, but here’s what you need to know:
-The combined 500 pt forces must equal a 1,000 pt army with 1 HQ choice and 2 Troop choices split between the two halves however you please.
- You may only have ONE Elite, Fast Attack and Heavy support choice until you have taken one of each; meaning that you can only have a second Elite choice after you have bought an Elite, Fast Attack and Heavy Support option already.
- Both halves of the army must be flocked and painted. (The standard “3 Colors” rule applies to the painting, minimum three colors on all models.)
- Entry fee will be $30 per team ($15 per person)
- The tournament will consist of 4 rounds, with a break for lunch.
- Sign-in will start at 10 A.M. and the games will start at 11 A.M. sharp.
Please call, e-mail or come in with any questions. This is the first time we’ve tried something like this, so it’s going to be a learning experience for everyone.

Marauder’s Mayhem: Autumn Rage, Oct 10th-12thMarauders Mayhem, Autumn Rage

If you've got what it takes, join the Dayton Marauder WFB club and Krystal Keep for three days of extreme carnage. The fun begins with a 500-point WFB warband doubles tournament on Friday night. The warband tournament is free if you are registered for the main event; otherwise it is $2 per player. On Saturday and Sunday we are holding a five-game, 2250-point Warhammer Fantasy Battles IndyGT. Register early for the main event to secure your spot in the tournament because although there are 70 spots available, the event is filling fast (last count there were only 15 spots left!!!).
We will also be holding a painting contest on Saturday. The painting contest is free for people signing up for the main event, or $2 per entry (maximum of one entry per person per category). The categories are single fantasy miniature, and single large fantasy miniature (40x40mm base or larger). The entries can be from any Fantasy miniatures range, or even scratch built.

‘Ard Boyz Semi-Finals, Oct 11thKrystalKeep is proud be the regional venue for GW’s ‘Ard Boyz Semi-Finals Tournament on October 11th! You can qualify for this event by being one of the Top Three players in the ‘Ard Boyz Qualifier on September 13th at KrystalKeep. Even if you don’t qualify, be sure to stop on by and see the big boy bust some heads with the cheesiest lists they can scrum up! No painting scores, no sportsmanship, no crying allowed!

All Hallows Eve Mega BattleThis is the next in the line of John Wright’s fantastic Mega Battles, but with a twist.
Costumes are REQUIRED!
(None of that “I came as myself” excuse either!)
This time, the gloves are off! None of that “Imperium against Disorder” stuff; teams will be decided upon arrival. Expect to be fighting against any army this time. It’s the perfect time to bring that weird/not-wholly-feasible Apocalypse formation that you’ve been thinking about!
No details from John yet on players/points but go ahead and get the day off and start looking for that Ballerina costume you wore last year. Stay tuned to the website and the newletters for updates.

ATTENTION WARBOSSES!It’s time ta rally da boyz for a right-proppa Waaagh!
Set aside the 31st of January and help us welcome in the second wave of 40K Ork models with our biggest mega-battle yet! This is going to be a battle of a different color, namely, GREEN! The Warbosses are assembling to take on all challengers. That’s right; this time there’s no “good vs. evil”. This time it’s just the green again the not-so-green, Orks against everyone!
We’re still getting the particulars together for this massive undertaking but mark the date now and plan on staying the entire day. This is NOT going to be an average Mega Battle.

GW Metal Model Price IncreaseUnfortunately, with the world’s current economy and the number of foreign countries modernizing and requiring massive amounts of raw metal material, the price of pewter, tin and silver has sky-rocketed. We have already felt the impact of this in Privateer Press miniatures, Reaper’s Warlord and Dark Heaven lines and Battlefront’s Flames of War. We received a somber announcement email from Games Workshop last week informing us that not even GW is able to stand against the tides of the increased metal prices. Games Workshop has been forced to enact a price increase on select items, (mostly metal box sets and blisters, paints, and codices) starting September 29th.
We suggest that if you were considering purchasing any metal GW products, that you do it before September 29th. We are more than willing to rush your special order through so that you can purchase your models before the price hike is enforced. But any models sold after September 29th will be sold at their increased price, even those ordered before September 29th.
