Yup, seriously though... GW tourney stuff is jacked.
Me and the overall winner ran away with it after 2 rounds (the only players with 45+ Battle Points). Then the way it works is we have to fight, which means that one of the two best players there (as per game one and two)
will get knocked below third place (most likely). Ok rant over.
Was a good time, glad to hear that the winner said my army was the most challenging he had gone up against with his NidZilla(of course right
) list.
Terrible rolling last game was as always... annoying. Then a massive tactical error by myself left me getting massacred, instead of me possibly drawing or even winning marginally.
...Oh and the winner gets to send a 3000 point list of any GW army (not forgeworld) to GW and they will send him the models. Pretty insane no?
Big shout out to Dan, you the man! Thanks for driving and letting me "crash" friday night. Noticed crash has quotations, as we both left at 4am, but thing is... We hadn't slept.... So this is now the 41st hour of my day
Game OverviewsGame 1 vs Necrons
In this game the objective was to have the only scoring unit touching the "golden ticket" at the end of a random game length game (starts after turn 5).
Was pretty much a bloodbath, although we did forget a special rule that made everyone in the mission fearless. His Necron units managed to avoid my first turn charge by successfully retreating from a combat and then shot me next turn. Didn't matter, I phased him out on turn 6. His Deceiver did do around 700 points of damage though (darn having to move
toward this monster for a change)
Game 2 vs Tyranids (sooooo many were at the tournament
)
Now this mission was insane. You roll to see who deploys first, then the first guy puts a model down anywhere on the board. Next, the other guy puts a model down anywhere 6" away from enemy models. So pretty much you end up with this massive mess of models all over the board. Victory points, bonus Battle Points for being in the middle at the end.
Game was a blowout, I boarded him by end of turn 4. Only had 4 casualties, and a few weapon destroyed results.
Game 3 vs Tyranids (yay Cookie cutter NidZilla!)
Lots of fun to be had here. Deployment was escalation, not so bad... He kept most things in reserve. First round I actually got to lay down some fire was terrible. 12 assault cannon shots at a hive tyrant, not one rend and then only 3 hits and 1 wound... which he saved. Kind of set the tone here.
Lots of bad rolling followed by me trying to charge the flyrant in a numb minded attempt at felling him... All resulted in my getting massacred. Sad thing is, I realized that I could have ignored him. Lost the squad he was fighting and instead have gone for the draw (or even minor victory with all the movement at my disposal).
Shame, that one tactical error took me from front runner to 7th place.
Good games by all, especially my third opponent. He played a brutal game.
