| Im thinking bout starting a star wars rpg group for some guys in my neighborhood, and im trying to determine what "era" i want the campaign to take place in. Im personally most fond of the old republic era do to the kotor games,
but i would like to get other opinions on it and maybe some tips as to which would be easiest to do?

| the Classic era is always great and has the most resource available
the Clone Wars is a close second followed by the (emerging) New Republic
WOTC is actually doing a nice job of releasing books that cover the main theme of specific eras and includning elements of past/Presentand future material within each tome-
WEG still has the best overall resource for Clasic era 9Dark Times through Episode 6 and the New Republic
What Format are you using? d6 D20 SW Saga
home brew mechanic? | |

| im probably going to be using d20 because its the only mechanics they are familiar with, i introduced them to it thru 3rd ed dnd, but other than that i dont really know where to start, i was gonna buy the core rulebook and just what else i wanna pick up from tehre any suggestions? im def wanting to do either a classic setting, or old republic setting
im thinking old republic is gonna work best a few of them have expressed interest in playing a jedi, but i dont really know lol

| actually i guess clone wars or the new republic would work for the jedi thing too, i was just looking for a time when they were more common and it wasnt unusual to see one if that makes sense | |

| for Clone wars/Republic era WOTC ne d20 Saga Edition (essentially it's 4th edition ) has the most available-
and honestly, stories can be easily fabricated jedi counslers being sent to resolve issues fight in battles investigate "dark things"...
I'm personally turned off by their first incarnation of the d20 series they really screwed up the Force mechanic in my opinion and made it really "Clunky" and unattractive
Later tonight I can get in touch with my friend he has a TON of the new Saga stuff fabricated into PDF files for download
Matt still has d2o stuff @ Yottaquest or you may getluck and find stuff at halfprice in Kenwood or on Colraine
as far as the d6 (West End Games) I personally have TONS of the materials too and some of their books can be found on line as free downloads since it's an unclaimed properity

And you can get it from eBay cheap!!!!! Yes, and D6 is mostly out of print right now. if someone DOES start to run a SERENITY/"Firefly" game - I am interested. Heck, Id ecen construct the ship mapboard for those sessions. (Look at the one in my avatar) - Ed C.

| I have a personal love for the D6 system because it was the first RPG system I used;
there is already so much SW material for it- and it's so easily adaptable and there is a clear point is skill development that makes sense, if you do it often enough, you learn it and can develpop it
not to mention an ease of knowing when you need to roll and when not to by how many dice pool you have going in a particular skill...

| I have a lot for d6 as well. I lost interest when they moved to d20. The conversion system really sucked. That coming from a person who just loves the idea of roleplaying games and have been willing to try just about any of them. | |
