| Is anyone else the least a slight bit put off with GW for devoting an entire page to Solar Macharius, while refusing to put him back into the special characters? I'm just saying, are they really gonna twist the knife after they've stuck it in our hearts? Don't even get me started on the abomination that is their treatment of Attilan in the Famous Regiments section. Supposedly now, we can only train Rough Riders. "What, orks are attacking and we need to mobilize for war? Well, gosh... we only got the eleven horses, guess the other thousand of us are gonna have to stay in the barracks, but you let me know how things turn out..." Oh and although we are said to be "born in the saddle" and we "value our steeds more highly than gold," you bet in adversity we'll bleed our mounts to sustain our lives. Honestly, no wonder we get a bad rep... | |

| What are you talking about, fluff-killing in 5th edition? The Necrons GAINED fluff.
...Wait, no, they just retconned half the old fluff, I think. Ah well, they're zombie space robot egyptians, there's not much to that.

| Codexwise we mean. But the Ork codex does do a pretty good job on the fluff. Chaos..well you can check out the millions of threads online about the fluff. The necrons haven't got a 5th edit codex yet, but giving all the good fluff about harbringers it's shaping up to be pretty good.
Ret-conning stuff is becoming overthe top for GW in my humble opinion. A stable storyline is important to a longlived series.

| if you read the books in general the story line is very stable, but for some reason the fluff tends to sometimes go aganist the novels | |

That would be because the guys writing the novels are in no way related to the game (for the most part). They are hired, told to write about x and are left to do whatever research they want. Granted they are given a few ground rules to follow, but in general, the hired authors have never even seen the game played. Kind of upsetting when you think about it.

| and yet the novels stay stable thoughout time, if a gun works a certain way except for a few odd ball books the guns work that set way, when the edtion rules change the novels do not change was my point, were as the fluff in codexs tend to change with each edtion, it would be nice if the stablized the one with the other at some point | |

| oh I wasn't trying to be rude in any way. Only filling in the fact that these are two different groups. The Black Library hires one guy to write all the stories for any given army. So, yes, he will stay consistent in all his books. He's inventing a history of his own. While the guys writing the codex will continue to write for the rules (though this group tends to change individuals each time). Sorry if my original reply seemed cross, it wasn't intended that way. | |

He'll float around somewhere online (which GW has done before) or get stats in a White Dwarf. They like to shelve and unshelve things all the damned time, normally when they want to cash in on something.
