I have a question and can't seem to find the answer in the rule book.

With the new run rule if a unit has fleet can you fleet and run or just do one or the other because if it is one or the other it seems having fleet means nothing for melee units?

Under the Universal Special Rules in the rulebook, it says that units with the fleet special can run during the shooting phase, and then assault as normal. I would hope I know this rule, seeing as I'm an Ork player. Razz

Yeah, EVERY model on foot can run instead of shooting.. Fleet just means that unit can then Assault in the assault phase. If a unit without it runs then they may not assault.

Nearly Every infantry unit can now run. This allows you to move an extra d6" in the shooting phase, INSTEAD of shooting.

All fleet does is provide the ability to assault in the assault phase after running in the shooting phase.

Thus, your gaunts were not actually allowed to shoot. Even in previous editions, you activated fleet instead of shooting, so I'm not sure where you got the idea that you could fleet and shoot from.

Oh well I know now and knowing is half the battle,

Guess it still comes from being a newb!

Only been playing for about a year or so but I think it may be because I never used gaunts until 5th edition for the Gaunt screen cover save!

The rules on "Fleet" have come a long way......

With how GW likes to mix things up we all get to be newbs at some point! Heck some of the changes in the current VC book have had a hard time sinking in! Which is really bad because I've been playing the same army for nearly 15 years.

Rather happy with the current main rule books for both 40k and WFB. So waiting for something really bad to happen and even things out.

Oh lordy why am I feeling so sick suddenly? You have a sick and diseased mind Kain, glad you are here.

If the Dreads get fleet I want some kind of grinding units rules like the Empire Steam Tank in Fantasy.
