| So I'd like to host one of these at my house. Let's see who is interested:
I'll say Sunday, November 18th. Let's say 1PM I have plenty of room.
3831 Aikenside Ave, Cincinnati, Ohio 45213. 513-641-9269
Caveats:
I have two dogs and a cat, so allergic types beware. I will provide (cheap) beer and softdrinks. Minors may not drink the beer. I will provide snacks. Maybe buy a bunch of really cheap hot dogs. No smoking inside. Outside or in the garage is fine.
Bring your paints and models or else I'll make you paint some of mine! I don't know how Matt and Marc do theirs, but I use old bottle caps as pallettes to mix paints in and throw em away, so save up some bottle caps.
Folks who are interested so far:
Matt Rhino JMarv Marc (maybe if football doesn't pull him away) CJ Danny Ultramarine
Chris

| Earlier works pretty well for me, since I don't have to go anywhere. My wife goes to mass at 11am and sometimes I go with her, so I think 1pm should work? I'll update the post. | |

| Thanks for the hosting the event Chris. This should really motivate some folks to get some paint tips and tricks. I hope its not just a one and done event. Maybe the group can set personal goals/objectives when the day is done which should be met by the next gathering. What a great oppurtunity to start.. say.. a 500pt WFB force I must admit though that 1p cuts into Colts TV. Unless the game moves to 8p due to flex time, I'll have to pass on the early start. We shall see. How long do you guys plan on working? | |

| We can always have the game on while we paint Some thoughts on the event. While I am not the worlds greatest painter, I am a pretty competent painter. I think if everyone thinks of a few things they would like to cover it would be beneficial. I would then try answer any questions to the best of my knowledge, hopefully with a decent amount of actual painting to show what I mean. I'll probably ramble about miniature painting/modeling for a long time, hopefully everyone will get something form it. And Chris, thanks again for hosting. | |

| My pleasure. I just bought a house and I need excuses to have people over. I'd love to do this more than once.
I'll probably buy a 4x8 and some saw horses for us to paint on. Once my models are painted, I'm going to paint the table green and flock it. I'd really like to have a table to play on that looks like the ones in the GW pics.
One thing I'm thinking is that people should bring their models primed, at least (unless you also need help properly priming them!)
So go buy your black, white or gray primer and spray some models!
Is there any other homework people should do or a list of certain things they should bring, do you guys think?
For example:
at least 1 primed model. a .001 brush for detail (I dunno if that is the right number just made it up) a .001 crappier brush for dry brushing small things a larger crappy brush for dry brushing big things etc etc

| Sounds good, although I use one brush for most things (bad habit, and the reason i go through brushes like a mad man). I can offer advice on modeling etc too if people want to go from that angle.
The board sounds cool, I just recently got my board flocked and painted, need to get more games in on it (can't wait for break).
Chris, I also love the idea of getting more of these in.

| Yes! I am still looking forward to hosting this event on Sunday.
Are all of the folks in the main post still planning on coming?
Matt, could you change the topic title to at least include the date?
I suggest - "Painting Workshop 11/18. Free food, soda and beer!" - see if we can scare up more interest.
I'm going to spray a landspeeder black in preparation - I wanna learn to do those grey highlight lines.
I got a couple marines sprayed Dark Angel green as well. I was spraying them black and dry-brushing the green on, but for the time it took, I honestly couldn't see that big a difference vs. the spray painted ones.

| You'd be better off coming from black, but we can look at that stuff on Sunday. I'll be bringing some Deathwing and some Ravenwing to paint.
What time do we want to start?

| I'm open to folks showing up at 1PM.
Danny, I assure you we'll still be at it at 3pm. My post farther up has the address and my cell phone.
I have Guitar Hero III and two guitars for while paint applications are drying...

| Personal preference really, if you want to have to add shadows after then grey (which will mean some inking and black lining) but if you want to avoid that but have to build up the greys then black. | |
