| their are a few armies im interested in maybe you guys could give me your advice about these armies. i like beastmen because of the hordes, and i think they have units or a special rule that allows reserves to come on any table edge? vampire counts has always seemed like a sweet army too with raising skeletons. and then dwarfs just because they are so durable and every time i see them in a game they never seem to have a bad match up but then again it never seems all that good either? thats about all i know on those armies with some pointers i will be ready to start a force. thanks in advance for any advice. | |

| The beastmen, I think, have the ambush special rule which, as far as I know, allows some (or all) of your units to come in from any board edge. Vampire Counts has an entire army that causes fear, but they suck as far as close combat and stuff like that. Dwarves are basically the slowest moving most easily defensible force in the game. They are very sturdy but have nothing in the way of magic, and the only defense they really have against it is four standard dispel dice. My 2 cents. | |

| every army has their pros and cons. it just depends really what kind of player you are, and how much you like the models (painting an army you hate would be torture ). | |

| This response is a bit late but since this post has Vampire Counts in it I just have to respond. - Ultramarine wrote:

Dwarf Miners do that. Very annoying for rear stationed artillery. 8- D - Ultramarine wrote:

Yes it is. Although it does get a bit annoying that their purpose is to mainly take hits and provide ranks. GW did a good job of restricting the army two editions ago. Personally I generally prefer zombies because they are so cheaper and summon easier. - Ultramarine wrote:

One of the big things about WFB is generally controlling table quarters. Which is ruff. Another thing a rather sharp Dwarf player pointed out to me is that since they are so good on defense they get stronger when keeping most of the force in one table quarter. But doing that requires giving up easily half of their own table side. For an army that is already working up hill to move having to take back or contest table quarters can be tricky. They are neat army and that Anvil is just annoying. But oh so good. 8- D

| I'm looking at Vampire Counts seeing as they are the next in line to get a redo. Either that or starting something non-GW and non-UGO IGO. | |

| At Origins several years back I was at a booth that had a bunch of boxes of old Wights on Skeletal Horseback. Basically the same thing that was in the individual blisters except in a box set of five. No one had bought them and they were discounted. Man it hurt to spend that much money but being able to field a calvary army was just too good to pass up.
There are some units in every army that one should often (or always) use. Black Knights (as they are now called) is one for the Vampire Counts. I think it has to do with the fact that the skeletons and zombies won't do the killing (they are to look pretty and provide backdrop during evil rants) and characters die to all sorts of ironies.

| YUP,Ive always wanted to field or just paint up some calvory.I dont know how Im going to react to a slow moving army like the Dwarfs.Im going to need some hand cuffs,or zanax. Im so impatient when it comes to movment,Im really going to have to concentrate on this to play Dwarfs.I like to jump right in there and battle. Thats why I bought a Gyro Copter, that should be my fix | |
