No clue what the current handling of these live games go. But did a little of it back in the 90s. Didn't get into it too heavily because of the crazy driving distances.

It was interesting. The group kept a record of games played so the character could advance through an experience point system. If one played as an none player character at an event they got credit that could be assigned to their character.

There's also a group called Dagorhir somewhere in the Cincinnati area that does mostly the same thing.

A group of my friends also does the swordfighting, but more infrequently, without the dressup or roleplaying, and our weaponry is a slight bit cruder (No fancy designing or anything, just get a length of 3/4" PVC, wrap in pipe insulation, wrap in duct tape, and have at it)

There is a group that was popular in Colorado before I moved called IFGS. They had profesionally printed rules, classes and all. Like D&D except you had to play your character, fighting, puzzle solving and all. I think I have pictures of one of their games somewhere.

Actually, Dagorhir is not a single group, but a massive number of groups from all over the nation, Galadorn being one of them. If anyone is still interested in this, the Local Cincinnati group meets at the UC campus every friday evening until Midnight at Swift hall.

Yotta Quest has begun to sell some VERY nice, profesionally made Padded "Weapons"

Bell Karate (Tang su-do) teaches a very cool sword fighting class at Oakley Recreation Center if anyone wants to learn how to "actually duel"

I'm a heavy fighter in the SCA, its an awesome (albeit expensive) hobby.

Great physical training too though im still wondering if it was worth getting a waiver from air force to do it.
