PostSubject: Adepticon? Any interest   Tue Nov 10, 2009 2:54 pm

So I am thinking of going to Adepticon in 2010. March 26 to 28th. Specifically for either the Fantasy tournament or Team 40K tourney on Saturday.

Is anyone else interested in taking a road trip up? I know it is a tad early but I thought I'd throw it out.

Depending on cost I'd like to go!!! but i'd also need my armies to be finished painted... I would prefer 40K over fantasy...

We are taking another team chaos this year (our third year), Warmonger, Devourer of Ale, our new permanent member, and myself. There will also be an I.G. team and an Ork team going for the Hellfish. We also play the 40k championships on sunday. Believe me if you can go, it's an unbelievable weekend.

If you plan to stay the night, make sure you get the gamers discount on the rooms.

As far as the cost, it isn't cheap. But with enough guys going , you can split the cost. We usually put 4 guys per room which drastically reduces cost. And with all the vendors...

It's not too early either. We are already testing lists and trying to get more teams to go. As amatter of fact the registration has already started with some teams already signed up.

Last year the rooms ran about $100 a night. 2 nights split 4 ways-$50 bucks per person for the weekend. Thats not to hateful.

OK... so can you tell me a bit more about the "team" tournament.

I've read the hand outs but they are pretty indepth.
So I've got some questions:

How does a 4 man team play the games? Do the team members decide who will be the 2 man team for each game?

Do you make the decision after you hear who you are going against?

Is it better to play as a single codex team or a mixed codex team?

As I understand it a team (across all 4 members) may only have 1 named character if they are a mixed codex but if you are a single codex each player may have a named character (as long as they are different).

How crazy are the armies/conversions...etc?

I saw Apoc formations are allowed. Do the speacial rules apply to the formation then?

Are the Apoc formations prevelant on the table?

That is it for now...

You play a game with each member of your team for the first 3 games (they decide the matchup) and on the 4th game you pick the pairing.

It's better to play the same codex IMO. Repedativeness is essential. Example, we run all run a lash prince and a unit of 3 oblits. We also try to run plague marines or 'zerkers. The rest is filler, although we are working on a new tactic for this year.

As far as the characters, you're correct.

"How crazy are the armies/conversions...etc?"
elaborate

The Apoc formations is new this year.

I'm open for anything and would always invest in a new army.

Personally I have Necrons, Speez Maureens, and a few Tyranids.

More then enough to the first to cover a most of a 4 man team.

I'm little by little getting that thing in the back of my brain that will make me want to go to this.

I should be able to stay with my brother in Oswego, IL so I won't have to shell out the cash for a room.

I wish I could find more info on the Space Hulk events going on there though... the whole three of them, one for 3rd edition and two for first.

I might go just to enter the painting and modeling workshops, and to enter stuff in the painting competition.

I gotta think on it some more though.

Warmonger was on the Necron team, the first year we went. They ended up winning a prize for "Let the dice fall where they May". I think it was for making your opponents use their comand token while saving yours. I remember that he hated the team shirts too. They had a flouresant green print/ink. You could easily spot those guys across a crowded banquet room of gamers. Laughing lol!

Good luck with 'crons. 2 towers strategy, wraithstorm maybe?

First, Brian... do you have crons?

Second, what point value are we looking at for them?

Third, would one of you fools, if we decide to move on this, help me construct a decent list?

Fourth, if we decide to move on this, what do you guys think if I make my 'Crons Stargate villian-ish; you know, with anubi heads and such?

I'm pretty sure B has some Crons. I've got enough to cover all of us with most options that are viable - Wraiths, Destroyers, Monos, troops, both special characters and some lords.

I like the idea of some anubis heads though.

Adepticon rule section:
Quote :
Rules, units and wargear from any source besides the codices listed in the 40K Team Tournament section of the AdeptiCon 2010 40K Army List rules are NOT allowed. This includes but is not limited to:
o Chapter Approved units, wargear and special characters.
o Forge World army lists and special characters.
o Flyers, Super Heavies, Super Heavy Flyers and Gargantuan Creatures
o Apocalypse Formations and Strategic Assets.
Individual units that may have multiple rules versions will follow the rules presented in that army's codex. Yes, this means a Black Templar Land Raider will function differently than a standard Space Marine Land Raider. Please take the time to review the relevant GW/AdeptiCon FAQ's for clarifications.

I'm not positive but I think only units that are in the codex but who's models are only avaliable by forgeworld, ex. IG Manticore. It's a bit confusing scratch
