Think it looks great as far as transition, not to much, not to little.
Only thing I see, and cant tell from picture, is the texture. You use just paint or is there any kind of mixture to give it some dirt look other than the color if it.
Like I said first though I think you got it just right as far as color goes.

Just mixed in with matte medium..
though I plan on arming myself with a few Michaels coupons and hitting the Liquitex section like its Christmas

Devlan mud and gryphonne sepia are your friend.
There are some decent techniques out of "how to paint citadel tanks" Also some ones at the painting corps.
Matt medium is amazing but don't overlook slow dri when first attempting weathering.
