(JTPitt) Catachan II Devils fight for resources against the (Chad) Crimson Fist
Wanted to give a big thanks to Chad for play testing this list with me tonight. It really helped me out to see how it would do.
Setup:
As Colonel ‘Iron Hand’ Straken looked out across the plains he saw the resources his men required to continue their campaign on the planet. As balls of fire fell from the sky Straken wiped the sweat from his brow. He knew he would soon have to fight for those resources against the the Emperor’s finest warriors the Space Marines of Crimson Fists.
As Colonel Straken and his men crossed the hills he started shouting orders for his men to get into position he knew the upcoming battle would be hard fought for the much needed resupply pods.
After getting his men into position and ensuring everything was prepared for his men to start to advance Colonel Straken noticed several squads of Crimson Fist getting dug into the nearby ruinous city. Knowing that his men would not survive without the resupply he ordered his men forward.
Turn 1:

The lumbering behemoths of the Imperial forces moved forward pointing their enormous guns at the ruined city. On the other side the Bane Wolfs surged forward to find cover from the soon incoming fire.
The Battle tanks took careful aim and fired several shots at the unit of Crimson Fists in the ruins. While the rounds made their mark only a few Crimson Fist fell to the explosions.
Looking around Colonel Straken could here the sounds of Drop Pods coming in. He knew things would be tough but he would move his men into position and prepare them for the worst.
Chad:
Three drop pods fell from the sky like great missiles hurling towards the ground. With a loud deafening sound the drop pods landed. The first two help two five man units who hurriedly set up position to make the most of the cover they were in. Hoping to give his men much needed protection from the Imperial tanks Pedro had a decoy drop pod launched. Landing safely in front of the other two drop pods it would provide a safe cover where his men could make their advance to wipe out the Catachan guards.
In the distance Colonel Straken saw the flash of a large barreled weapon and before it was too late he realized it was the fire of a Thunderfire cannon. In an instance his men came under fire and the platoon lost 5 men. Each loss of a man making Straken more resolute. How ever the Inquisitor who was helping the campaign did not fair so well he and his men were swiftly killed by the thunderfire cannon.
Soon the tanks came under fire from far off lascannons and rockets. Lascannon shots missed one after another. In a hurry the marines had not set themselves up for a proper shot. Though the marines with the rocket launchers planted their feet firmly and their rockets hit squarely on the tanks. One Bane wolf had a malfunction from the incoming fire and soon the vehicle could no longer fire its most devastating weapon.
Turn 2:

Angered by the loss of his men Colonel Straken quickly set to ordering his men into position to return fire yelling “LET’S SHOW THEM WHAT WE ARE MADE OF!!!”
Straken turned to his radio operator trying to find out where his squads of vets were but they were too far out to make it to the battle just yet.
Colonel Straken ordered the platoon to fire upon the Thunder Fire cannon to ensure that no more men would be lost to deafening roar of its guns. The lascannons fired and found their mark. Destroying the cannon in one fell swoop.
The Battle Tanks maneuvered to get into a better position on the marines who piled out of the drop pods. Ignoring the marines in the distance they set their sites on the current threat near by. Aiming their deadly guns several shots went out but due to a dramatic change in the wind one of the shots went off course leaving a giant crater in the ground. The other one exploding on top of the marines but thanks to their positioning, the drop pods protected all but one of them.
Colonel Straken ordered the Demolisher, Punisher team to move towards the second unit of marines to swiftly carry out their justice. Again fate seemed to intervene and the demolishers shot went off course. The Punisher Gatlin cannon would not miss and soon round after round was launched into the squad of marines. Four out of the five marines were ripped apart by the hail of fire coming from the gatlin cannon.
Chad:
Pedro gave the order for his squad and the chapter Librarian’s squad to stay back they would come in soon but things needed to be in order. Watching from high orbit he saw a chance for his unit of scout bikers to come in and put a stop to the dreaded Bane Wolf’s.
The bikers came rushing out of the ruined city towards the tanks to stop them. They open fired firing their heavy pay load. Unfortunately they could not pierce the armour of the Bane Wolfs. Again the lascannons aimed this time finding their mark this time destroying the Heavy Flamer on the Bane Wolf missing its Chem Cannon. Now with out its guns it would create a screen to ensure the safety of the last tank in the squad.
The marines in the drop pods advanced towards the Leman Russ tanks hoping to find a place to land a good shot. The two units from the drop pods opened fire on the two squads of Leman Russ tanks but neither of them could find their mark.
The drop pods proximity sensors found the Command Unit of the Catachan II Devils and begin firing. The shots found their mark and soon there were 4 dead guards men. Bullet ricocheted off of Strakens bionic arm harmlessly.
Turn 3:

Straken frustrated at the loss of his command squad soon set his men in motion to ensure that no more men would be loss. It was a fool hardy errand but he would do what he could to make sure his men made it out alive. Suddenly over head he heard the screaming engines of 2 Valkyries carrying his most trusted veterans in to the fray of the battle.
The demolisher, punisher squad of leman russ tanks again opened fire this time to ensure that last marine would die. In one single shot from the Demolisher nothing was left were the marine once stood.
The second squad of leman russ battle tanks moved back so they could properly take aim and ensure that the last marine squad would not survive this volley of fire. Simultaneously the tanks opened fired with all their guns leaving nothing but a giant crater where the men once stood.
The Bane wolfs surged forward towards the bikes realizing the danger they were in. Firing its noxious chemicals and flames at the squad they died quickly, their bikes careening off without their riders.
Having ensured that his men were protected from the current threat he assessed the area trying to find the best way to use his men.
Chad:
Pedro watched in horror as he saw his marine fall at the hands of the Imperial Guard. He then ordered the Librarian’s squad and his squad to enter the battle field. In a great blaze of fire the drop pods enter the battle field. With hateful lust in his heart Pedro set out to make the score even.
The librarians drop pod landed close to the platoon of Imperial guard making it all the easier for him to eradicate them from this mortal plane. Calling upon the powers of the warp he reached out with is mind searing the bodies of the guardsmen. His men soon followed suit with their flamers burning all the guardsmen alive. Only handful remained when the librarian ordered the remaining men to open fire and swiftly the remaining guardsmen all died.
Pedro and his men set about to destroying the battle tanks that had killed his men. The two marines with their Combi-meltas found their mark. They destroyed one of the Battle tanks powerful cannons.
Drop pods sensors now found the platoon commander and his squad. They opened fire but thanks to a well placed move the platoon commander and his men were able to find protection behind some ruins. Though they still lost one at least it was only one.
Turn 4:

Straken, realizing how dire the situation was, ordered the tanks to maneuver into position to obliterate Pedro and his men.
After witnessing the death of their fellow guardsmen the bane wolf tanks swiftly turned around and surged forward at the librarian and his squad. Letting loose the deadly chem. Cannon and the cleansing flame of the heavy flamer it left only the Librarian and two men alive.
The demolisher, punisher leman russ tank squad moved over to assist in killing the librarian and his squad. The demolishers cannon found its mark, and the punisher gatlin cannon let loose its rounds and soon the librarian found himself alone all of his men dead.
The second squad of battle tanks moved away opening fire but it seemed the winds would make the shots deviate off course leaving Pedro and his men unscathed.
Straken ordered the valkyries to fly as fast as they could towards the furthest resource pod because it contained the most vital things..
Chad:
Pedro and his men still set on destroying the tanks stalked their prey waiting to pounce. After shot after shot failed to make its mark Pedro ordered his men to rush the tanks and take them out. The tanks maneuvered just fast enough to avoid damage.
Librarian angered and frustrated set about taking out the Bane Wolf’s. Before he could reach them to destroy both of them well placed shot from a lascannon was able to take destroy one of them leaving one for him to handle himself. Summoning the powers of the warp again the Librarian increased his strength and ensured he would destroy the last Bane Wolf. With one mighty blow he punctured a fuel line and it ignited blowing up the tank leaving nothing behind but scraps of metal and a crater.
Turn 5: Game had to end on this turn cause of time restraints.

Straken moved to make his assault into Pedro and his men but called for fire support ensure that when he made his final move that he could take the squad out.
The battle tank moved away from Pedro and his men leaving them out in the open susceptible to the heck that would be rained down on the from the battle tank squad. Aiming true and firing sharply the weapons found their mark. Killing 6 marines, they weakened the marines to aid Old Iron Hand in his assault. Assaulting Pedro and his men would not be an easy task but with his belly full of fire and anger he launched into them. With a flurry of knives and fist coming at the marines none of them could dodge his hits and soon it was only Pedro. Thanks to his training and his many years on the battle field Straken was able to quickly recover and dodge Pedro’s attacks.
Before launching an assault on Pedro and his men Straken ordered one of the valkyries to turn around and go for a different set of resources while the other vets got the cables on the valkeries hooked up to have the resources pulled in. To ensure the safety of the squad they destroyed the closest drop pod. The Valkery flew fast to get to the resource pod.
Chad:
Locked in combat Pedro and Straken exchanged blows. Neither Pedro nor Straken could land a blow as they fought hard.
The librarian tried to make to the resources that the Valkery just flew to but could not make it in time. The vets had already secured the lines for both the pods and were preparing to leave.
Soon over their comm the marines heard a recall order as something happened in a different sector that would require their special skills. Having to leave business unfinished did not sit well with Pedro or Straken. Since it would save lives Straken allowed Pedro to pull his men out while he and his men finished gathering the resources.
Game Summary:
It was a hard fought battle the entire time but I will have to say it was a lot of fun. I left out a few things here and there in the battle report but they were things of no consequence. I say no consequence from my side because while Chad was getting a lot of good hits in he was rolling 1’s and 2’s on the vehicle damage charts. It was a great game though and learned some new things had some fun.
Will say like always the Bane Wolf’s get hunted down but always make their points back. Vets in Valk’s rule for getting objectives and the Leman Russ Demolisher, Punisher team combo packed one heck of a punch and would recommend it to any IG player. Straken saved the day with his stubborn, furious charge things and while they did not make as big an impact in this game it helped him kill all the guys around Pedro so that he could lock them up in combat.
