Uncharted Seas question. Empty
PostSubject: Uncharted Seas question.   Uncharted Seas question. EmptySun May 23, 2010 2:17 am

How big are the boats?

I am making Uncharted Seas terrain for Art of War Gaming & miniatures and I am currently working on a harbor town. I need to make the docks big enough to allow the ships to enter.

I'm looking for dimensions of the largest boats in the fleets. I'm mostly interested in the Imperial Human faction, but the others will help also. I just need the length and width. A comparison to a GW Man-O-War ship would be awesome. Say, a side-by-side with an Empire Greatship next to an Imperial Human Battleship.

More important though, is the width and length of the hulls.

Thanks in advance!

one of the largest boats I saw was an ork vessel and was
about 4"W x 8"L
not counting the sails it stood only aobut 3/4" Tall

The Elf starter fleet I saw the last week at ACME all laid out took up about a one foot square
thier ships are a bit longer too

Oh god... 4 inches by 8 inches? For real? Uh-oh. This is bad news.

In my eagerness to get a slew of terrain ready for opening day, I set out to make a bunch islands and junk for Uncharted Seas. Problem is, I was working wholly uninformed. If this is accurate information, then the scale is totally off. I was working with a pre-conceived notion of scale from GW's Man-O-War game. My terrain might be useless.

I'm not really familiar with your work, but I wouldnt be so critical...
the LARGEST ship was approx 4x8
the standard and interceptor types are only a few inches...

No, it's not useless. Anything is better than nothing. If you created actual scale islands, there would be no room on the board for ships.

It's awesome man...don't worry...We'll use it! What a Face

Scale is supposed to be 1/600. The ships are bigger then MoW.

Human battleship is 5 inches by 1 inch wide.
Human cruisers are 3 inches by .75 inch
Human frigates are 1 inch by .25 inch

Est.
Dwarf battleship 4 inches long w/ 2 inches wide.
Dwarf cruiser 2.5 x 1 inch
dwarf frigates 1 inche long by .25 wide.

I don't believe there is anything that is 4x8. That is a piece of wood not a mini.

Belated thanks for the info, John. I brought my first set of islands to Art of War last night and the scale was just fine. A few were on the smaller side, but interspersed with bigger islands, they will work splendidly. I was most concerned about the buildings and harbor walls. I thought the scal may have been too small, bt they seemed to stack up pretty well against the Elf ships I saw last night.

I'll be posting pics later today.
