| Can someone break this down for me? Looks like just modding to make a larger model. Is there a reason for this or just art for arts sake? | |

| People like to do it for a few reasons:
1. They like to model 2. The Marines, as we see them in miniature form, are way to short. Either that, or the IG and everyone else is way too tall.
Mostly, it's a combination of the two.

| Gocha- I guess with a taller model it would change los possibly but that seems the only drawback. Conversely I can envision now a whole army of marines based on their stomachs to "lawyer" around the los rules. | |

| it's whats called "Scale Creep"
what i could conceiveably sculptfor human soldiers is not the same as what you can in combat armor troops... nor what can be pressed out in Vehicles...
so... troops are 32mm, Marines are 30mm and tanks are 28mm see the 'creep'...?

| Yea I see. And Ive often wondered- why are they so small anyway- just table size or transportation or what? Why cant the all be about 4"? Man theyd be a lot easier to paint. | |

Your looking at it from the wrong point of view. 40k has a very rich backround as a modeling hobby. Truescale has absolutly nothing to do with rules or LOS. Its about making amazing looking marines that look epic compared to guardsman and other smaller creatures. It is a true test of a modelers abilities. Most people may not even play with their masterpieces and those that play competitively are generally rogue trader/adepticon fans where such things give you huge points advantages and where LOS is not an issue.

| Well the los is the problem I always have with someone making their model "costom" so I came up with the crawling marines, making them like true troops making them crawl on the terrain, sure disadvantage for shooting but advantage when they charge into the fray | |
