Howdy Everybody

Hey everyone, I'm Ryan.
I'm kinda new to the world of Warhammer, was interested in painting GW minis as a hobby and came across this forum while googling links for painting tips and etc. After lurking for a about a week I thought I'd introduce myself as I've been inspired to start an army and start playing.

I am currently starting a WFB High Elf army but it seems 40K is the more popular of the 2 games. I figured I'd also start a 40K army. Not sure which one yet. Just by looking over the GW site I'm initially drawn to the Necrons but the Space Marines seem to have more variety. Anything I should know when getting started?

You will find there are many people here that can assist you in pretty much every aspect of the hobby!

The best way to find out things is checking things out here on the forum and asking questions... Then hang out at some of the stores when we are playing... Check the Make a date section.

I play a lot of the armies for 40K and Fantasy and the only advice I can really give you is to find the army that really strikes you as the one you like and then learn from there, by looking over fluff and some PDF rules...

I have to completely agree with Makari, go check us out at the stores, you will get a much better feel for the armies, and how they can move.

yay another noob:) i'm just starting myself. and according to all of my friends, my painting skills are pretty killer. none into comparison to john's but its good enough for me:)

A good time to get into the High Elves, they were left in the cold for so long before the current book.

A hardy greeting. Many of us use "Make a Date" for finding games, it works out pretty well.

Wow. It's been 2 years and 2 days since my original introduction and I've yet to make painting or gaming more of a hobby than lurking forums and game sites. (I've been lurking this whole time... Hopefully that's not creepy)

Life/buying a house/marriage had gotten in the way or at least that's what I tell myself.

Anyhow just wanted to say hello again to everyone that welcomed me then as well as say hello those who have joined since. I'll be making an effort to get out and game with folks! For real this time, I swear.

P.S. Anyone willing to teach/walk a gaming noob through various games. I've got rulebooks and minis for 40k 5th, WFB 7th, Malifaux, Anima Tactics, and am looking to pickup warmachine/Hordes once the Hordes MKII book comes out.
