| Decided to paint this mini cause I got some of the FW Raven Guard stuff for S's & G's. I don't have a light box set up yet, so the pictures are mediocre. Still not happy with my white...but it's a learning experience.... C&C welcome. Kaavan Front: Kaavan Back: |

| Nice. First pic is a little overexposed. Second looks good. I like the LCs. |

| Looks good witt! One off topic question, is it top heavy? Isn't that a metal mini? Just looks like it would tip over easily (though, you may have weighted it down to help...) _________________ I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure. | Super top-heavy. Like, a ton. Took me about 40 minutes to figure out how to pose him so he wouldn't tip. I still may glue a little piece of metal to the underside on the back to help counterweight it.
John--I don't think I know what you mean by LCs. I'm just going to need to set up a decent photo thing here. What prog you use to put your gradients behind your pictures? |

| I am picking one of these up when I have a little free cash. Micro-Mark has a ton of items (I own about 20 items from the catalog), and just got the new one in the mail yesterday Photo Studio_________________ 40K Stats: ...is dead to me |

| The only way I can ever make whites look good is by spray painting, otherwise I get brush stroke syndrome. Good looking fig. |

| It looks great. I love the Kayvaan Shrike mini. A tip for the white- I think it would look better with some sort of wash of gray. |

| Yeah, I'll disagree with the grey wash. It, IMO, just makes it look dirty.
I know the only REAL way to make white look really good is to do multiple layers, and shade it up from a different color (I use Space Wolf Grey for my base) but it certainly requires more time than I put into this guy (maybe 4 hours).
I suppose if I ever want to submit something to a competition, I'll take those s steps. Till then I'll continue to play around with quicky methods that'll look decent on a battlefield. |

| I use grey washes on my whites. It is a matter of getting the wash right imo. I also end up applying white again (so i guess i sort of shade/line with my grey wash.)
I paint up from white most of the time too, I'm sure that makes things easier. _________________ Dark Angels 1750 win/loss Record Win - 23 (Belial helped wreck Ryan's puny Eldar) Loss - 13 (Brice's Necrons wiped me) Draw - 2 (The 13th hold out in alpha take and hold)

That depends on what grey you use. I use shadow grey personally and tidy up as much as possible. You also have to remember, its war, you ever seen anything come out of one clean?
I dont like Space Wolves grey personally, its already like a off white and can barely tell the difference between the two. |

| Do you mean like as a wash for the recesses? Or for shading? I think I misunderstood your meaning.
I do a few different things, particularly on the wings, with washes:
1. If I'm going for a darker look, I start with Astronomicon Grey, wash with badab, highlight astronomicon, then highlight white.
2. For a more blue look (like with Shrike) I went with SW grey base, wash with Asuryan blue, SWgrey highlight, white highlight.
Again, i'm still fudging around with them, so will try anything, particularly on a metal model. |

| I could have clearer on the whole wash though. You can see some of the blue on the fingers of the lightning claws, but then in some places it looks black. The bolts have nothing around them at all. I would do another asurman blue wash than tidy up a little bit. |
