| I didn't say i wouldn't... Again what i was hoping for is someone with the knowledge to post a run down of what tourneys are popular and how they are run. Not just for me but for other people who may want to know that are directed to this site, also so it can maybe be told in laymens terms so I would not have to scour the DCI pages or try and figure out how to rewrite what someone verbally tells me and possibly misinform someone who wants to know ...
But thank you Madman for the suggestion I will ask but If there is a Magic Guru can ya post it for my weak minded brain? | |

| Magic the Gathering Primer:
Constructed Tournaments (Bring your own deck)
Block (Usually 3 sets from one single year that play well together) Standard (Most recent 2 blocks and most recent core set) Extended (8 most recent blocks and the core sets that fall between them) Legacy (All sets playable, there is a long banned list) Vintage (All sets playable, there is a short restricted list)
Limited Tournaments (Build a deck with new product)
Sealed (Open 6 to 8 packs and build a deck using those and basic land) Draft (Each player receives 3 packs, packs are sent around the table each player taking one card from each pack, you then build a deck using the cards you draft and basic lands)
As to what is popular...
Standard is the most popular as it is the easiest to begin playing, I would say the least amount of money invested, but it has been creeping up with high powered rares. YottaQuest has a standard tourament every Friday, Illumanidi every Tuesday, Comic Book World in Florence every Monday, and The Game Place every Thursday.
Drafts are run A LOT! Sanctioned tournaments need to be 8 players. YottaQuest has them every Monday and Friday, Illumanidi on Friday, Clifton Comics most Fridays, and Rockin Rooster on Saturdays.
All are what I remember off hand.
Another big format in town is Elder Dragon Highlander, very fun casual format. Do a google search on the name for rules, much too complicated to explain not in person.
If you have any more questions, I would be that Ryan person from YottaQuest.
