Really like your blues. I would personally dirty up the guns a bit more. Try a sepia wash, or if you have them, some rust weathering powder. '

I sometimes wish I painted orks so I could have some fun dirtying stuff up.

Thanks witt. Yeah I'm learning to dirty things up. I picked orks so I could make do just that and convert, fold, spindle, mangle stuff, but I want to get a feel for the basic painting and orks in general before I really start. I expect I'll either go back later and weather him more or just do a new warboss(and convert him). Very Happy

3rd mini.... affraid

Folks...we have a player. Busting out the moss, birch seeds and super clean painting already. Wow.

Seriously. That is an excellent execution and will provide a solid foundation to apply other techniques and skills.

High compliments, thank you John. I'm actually hoping to run into you some time to talk painting. I've looked at some of your work on the forums here. Very nice! From what I understand you're one of the best painters in the area. I'm sure you could teach me a thing or three. Wink

I'm planning to do that pile of boyz pretty plainly (much like the boss, though hopefully without the really dumb mistakes like forgetting to paint his back skin and then noticing three weeks later when I came back to work on him and having to match the skin tones I had mixed up before... then after sealing him, noticing I painted the straps/tabard on his back skin color too and forgot to go back and paint them blue.... Rolling Eyes ).

Then hopefully I can get my hands on some Mig pigments. I'd like to work on grime, rust(itching to try the hairspray method), and mud on some Killa Kans and a Trukk. I'll probably go back and dirty up the boss/boyz more at that point. Then I plan to work on some Lootas/Nobz to practice shading/shadowing, not just drybrushing(though maybe I'll just sidetrack and do that with some of the SM from the AoBR box for that. They seem like they'd be good shadowing practice with the smooth armor/rounded transitions/soft angular shapes). Then I have a few things I want to cybork...

You can (occasionally) get the MiG pigments through coolminiornot.com when they aren't sold out. I actually picked up the Forge World pigments, and thus far love them.
