| ...do you take? What is your choice of Gear?
Here's the situation:
Its a modern or contemporary setting, lets say sometime between 1995 to the present.
You or rather your character can only take with him or her what you could reasonably carry on yourself while walking or running. However, that does include an average-sized backpack and maybe an over-the-shoulder duffle bag.
What do you take?
What do you arm yourself with ?
What kind of footwear?
Clothing (or 'armor')?
What kind of communications Gear? (assume a team with at least 2 to 3 others as allies)
IF it makes a difference, does the choice of gear change if the situation is:
1) Time traveling to a known destination.
2) Time traveling to a random decade or century.
3) Heading to a Zombie-infested city or town
4) Rescuing friends without permission of the authorities. "Off the Books" (Modern-day, with contemporary/modern-day politics)
5) Invited to be a passenger or crewmember on an alien spacecraft that has visited Earth
6) Part of a Group of modern-day humans who have decided to STEAL an alien spacecraft that landed here by mistake.
7) You are part of a new group of allies or friends that hunt Vampires or other monsters.

| I may be late replying but had fun thinking it out anyway. This is a generic, come-what-may combat survivalist list, if a more specific situation was given, I'd tailor it more to that.
Some weapons ideas: Ka-bar Collapsible Asp 9mm pistol with silencer HK416 assault rifle M24 with suppressor
Gear(split the one per party items between people): FAK with trauma/disaster and illness loadout Multitool 2 way hands free radios with ear buds Night/thermal monocular Thermal blankets Sleeping bag All weather lighter Strikeforce firestarter tool LumaMax Flashlight PALights Extra batteries (lights, radio, monocular) Duct tape 5 feet of plastic tubing 100 ft 550 cord Carabiners, d rings Cat’s Paw/small crowbar Lockpicks
Mess kit 2 Collapsible 1 gallon water jugs Meal bars/rations Water bottle Water purification tablets
Military style cargo pants Long sleeve button down shirt Cotton t shirt Change of clothes Oilskin duster (not my first choice but its useful and passable in multiple eras of time) Concealable Ballistics vest Under Armour cold gear top and bottom Under Armour heat gear top and bottom Good pair of heavy duty hiking boots Watch Sunglasses

| And if heading to vampire have to know what genre vampire (crosses? silver? steak?) Zombies - are they runners or shamblers? Time travel- back or forward? Nuclear threat- foreign or domestic? I think this could really change my equipment choices. I keep finding myself contemplating this question even when I'm away from the computer.

| What if you have very minimal information?
Say for example strange things are happening and I-71 becomes iompassable. Local authoraties got a signal from Columbus Ohio ...but the problem seems to be in the Washington Courthouse area.
Volunteers are asked for to clear the Washinghton Courthouse area of whatever strangeness is operating the so that the I-71 highway between Cincinnati and Columbus is again usable.
You got less than 24 hours (fictional time) tro do this - and survive to the other side and maybe get rewarded as heoes of a sort.
Thats ONE possibility.....
I'm looking to run an RPG one-shot or two in July. heck, I'm looking for more players in general .

| Well perhaps a Red Dawn scenario of hitting the sporting goods store and stocking up but in that case I would have access to a vehicle. Having a vehicle would open up what you could take. A Sprinter van can hold a LOT of stuff. I would be interested in an online role play with a group possibly. Like a once a week thing or so. Maybe a chat based game where a person could run it and others would have like 10 or 20 minutes to gather their answers and then it could be a little more casual. The only thing is you might get a lot of people saying thay rolled higher than they did, so a built in random dice roller would be needed. Or a choice game where there is no dice roll. Like the endless quest books. | |

Both stores do have Gaming Tables.

Add in several rumors(which of course don't have to be totally correct or true at all)/a newscast from the zone (which of course only gives a tantalizing glimpse of something before screams and the feed goes down....) - just a little something more that doesn't necessarily have to be true but would lead us slightly away from totally not useful gear (so we don't start out toting around a Geiger counter).
