Island of Blood Mini Event @ Art of War, Sept. 5th

It will be a three round, ninety minute per round mini-tourney, with some minor twists.

First, any army can take a unit from the Island of blood. And "disorder" army can field a unit of skaven from the Island of blood for free*, and an "order" army can field a unit of High Elves from the Island of Blood for free*. There will be bonus points for Island of Blood units that are painted, and bonus points for miscasts. I know I know, some strange stuff, but hey, Warhammer is a strange place!

So bring your 1,000 points army to Art of War Sunday September 5th and play to win a free copy of Island of Blood. There is no entry fee, so make sure you come down and play a game.

Note: Island of Blood units mean units made up of models from the Island of Blood box set. Free means that you get the unit from the box at no point cost to you.

We'll see you Sunday September 5th at noon!

So the box is released Saturday and I can bring a free unit but even better if I get them painted in a day? Uh...I don't think I'm even that fast.

So if I understand this right, GW wants me to buy the box set and paint it for a chance to win another box set? It sounds just stupid enough to be a real GW requirement .

No you buy a box and split it with your bud. Then you both paint like heck 1 unit for the best player. Then he gets the bonus points. You square off vs. one another and the non painted guy then throws the game so the painted guy maxes his points. You then win the other box and split it with said buddy.

The prizes for this event are:

3rd: Warhammer boxed set of your choice up to a $20 value

You don't get another Island of Blood.

My suggestion: Go win on at another tourney that weekend, then assemble your half and bring it to our event. A bunch of free models are good for any army...

I am not aware of a $60.00 box set from GW. Unless you count the unit mini's they sell in a box. If you really stretch it, I guess a box with 8 ogre bulls could be considered a box set since it is in a box. Even their brigade sets are $90+.

Vampire Counts Blood Knights (55.00 plus tax) the most rediculous box set in the GW pricing line (well at least a contender for the title anyway)

The event is pretty simple: Come play Warhammer games for FREE, enjoy some interesting scenario rules for FREE, and then get FREE stuff if you end up doing well. I never thought there would be so much discussion over someone trying to give something away for FREE.

Well I think I am going to play in the event...since I cannot promise to run it (the whole baby due thing...) cause I wanna win a Fateweaver!

I guess it is all about terminology. To me, a "box set" has multiple units vs. a unit box. It maybe that I am just getting too damnned old for this hobby when I start with the " I remember when..." stuff .
To answer your question Kor, it takes away from the fun when your chances of getting "free stuff" are reduced if you haven't spent the $100.00 for a particular product yet. In my case, there is very little in the Island of Blood box set that I want and nothing that I need. I am sure that other people who don't play High Elves or Skaven feel the same. I can almost picture a sales person now " those clan rats will look just super next to your choas warriors and oh... you just simply must have a screaming bell to accessorize".

Not a disagreement Wit, a misunderstanding on my part. I just foolishly tried to explain why I thought first prize would be bigger .

The Island of blood has two units of 20 clan rats, so you could have a unit of 20 rats with full upgrades and a weapon team, as long as it is from the Island of Blood.

I guess 40 would be asking a little much eh lol. Either way I plan on being there.

High elf lord on the grif count as a unit? (just trying to clarify I can't take one so doesn't matter to me)
