Forum Moderators and Circling the Wagons Empty
PostSubject: Forum Moderators and Circling the Wagons   Forum Moderators and Circling the Wagons EmptySun Oct 03, 2010 10:22 pm

The deleting of posts needs to stop.

This is an internet forum of people that are supposedly, at the very least, Bum, if not friends, and I think it's ridiculous that posts are deleted that speak out against the ***Round Slim Jims*** of forum moderators that is constantly circling the wagons to cover for one another.

As a moderator, you do NOT get to pick and choose how and who you're going to censor; forget the fact that I think the amount of censorship that has gone on recently is absurd. If you're going to censor, it needs to be blanket coverage. You do NOT get to select which posts by which people you will delete. I hope that you don't Bum or expect that the fancy "Forum Moderator" badge below your avatar bestows upon you some magical level of respect; it doesn't. The fact that you're deleting posts from WELL established members of this--and I'm going to use this term very loosely now--community is insulting and reflects poorly on both your judgment, and your character.

Additionally, doing so to close those wagons around part of that ***Round Slim Jims*** and their questionable actions falls further into the uncouth. Again, if this is a "community," it requires that we check and balance each other, much like the branches of our government. However, when all of the moderators are part of this "inner circle" and continually cover for each other, it compromises any semblance of community we may have here. Calling someone out for questionable practices shouldn't be deleted; it should be applauded.

As much as I want to throw out some really thinly veiled barbs at people, I'm not going to. I don't expect that this will stay posted long, as the Moderators have deemed it fit to zero in on me as constant ban-fodder. And that's fine. It'll reach the people it needs to. And you'll all know, if it is deleted, what level of respect you should have for the people running this forum who have somehow been appointed defacto heads--I refuse to say leaders, as I probably wouldn't let most of you lead the 4th grade line to lunch--of this community.

If it's deleted, I'm done. We'll see how long it takes the wagons to circle.

On one point you are correct there is a system of checks and balances. There is no one covering for anyone.

I sent you the links that were in question. He even stated in the post it was CJ's stuff. He is not hiding anything.

There isn't a system in place on these forums for something to be deleted and then brought back. You are just jaded and wish to vent it's OK.

On another point you are wrong. It is the job of the forum moderators is to keep things in line. I am not sure before tonight what you are talking about being censored.

I did delete your posts tonight because you were making personal attacks at someone.

You asked me where I was when my "friends" from Dayton and others were slamming in the "Mike Leon Challenge" post, and as I told you, just like tonight PM's were sent out and the topic was locked:

https://cincycag.forumotion.com/modcp.forum?mode=ip&p=34898&t=4557&sid=68a61023edc66b5dabccfc6d7b328024

I was out of town that week and got to it late before it got out of hand.

You can't call names like 'douche' and 'Round Slim Jims!' again not proper etiquette, and it sucks you have come to this kind of person Sean.

You used to be helpful, informed and a pretty likable guy. Now your just a forum troll who likes to take stabs at other people. 5 months ago you were a topic of discussion about your attitude on the forums.

You also would know nothing about the community we have because you don't participate in anything out and about around town.

As far as I am concerned if you want to post on relevant stuff great, if not take your trolling to Dakka and live out your days there.

Do you understand how hypocritical much of your post is? I realize that when you take shots at people it's okay because you're a moderator. But you do understand the hypocrisy of that, right?

Further, that fact that you're going to question my character and my participation in this forum is laughable. I think the fact that I work two jobs and am a teacher speaks plenty to my character. As for the participation: not all of us have the luxury of all that free time, with work and family obligations obviously taking precedent, not to mention the many times I game with people at their, or my, home. Because I can't participate in weekday leagues and choose to spend time with family instead of play in weekend tournaments doesn't mean I don't participate. It's important to be informed before you go spouting blanket statements about situations of which you are completely ignorant.

Just because I'm not part of your clique doesn't mean I'm uninvolved.

The hypocrisy lies in the deletion of my posts concerning carl due to "name calling" and the Chad doing the exact same "name calling." it's fairly clear.

Further, I hardly think my well reasoned and entirely reasonable argument can hardly be called a rant. Rants provide no justification or reason. My statements clearly do. I believe my points deserve to be public in this instance, as it affects many people and not merely myself.

The problem, despite you wanting to believe it, exists. The moderators here do circle he wagons to stick up for each other. Im sure there is one or two dissenting opinions, but you cover for one another at the expense of the other community members.

Some things need to be public. I believe this is one of them.

What's next, filtering out the Ramones or GG Allin? Will this censorship of seminal punk bands never end? Will "seminal" be filtered?

Aargh! It's all too much!

(thanks...

I don't really have much to do with the day to day of the forum any more.

I've always looked at it this way though (for what it's worth):

Posts are deleted if there is a personal attack (the person who wrote the post is told their post is being deleted, normally through PM)

Deletion has to be thought through, and threatening the deletion of an account or a users post is a big big risk. The people are what make this place run.

Topics are closed if it is getting out of hand. This is a subjective thing, so it's occasionally prone to error. Back in the day I would just judge if a topic should be closed (99% of closings were due to thread necromancy) but now we have a group of moderators they can all chat and work out if a topic needs closing. Closing topics does have to happen from time to time, otherwise the forum gets muddled with derailed topics. It becomes difficult to find the signal for the noise.
