| What do you think about the use of fortifications? Anyone building a list around fortifications?
My understanding is that the fortifications are a part of the terrain (25%, 2x2) and setup along with the terrain. How do you see fortifications working in tournaments where the tables are typically preset? Maybe the player gets to remove one from his table half to "deploy" his fortification?

I'm using an ADL in my 1850 list

| GW gives a fair bit of latitude for tournament organizers, so the answer could vary. My guess is he who pay the points for it get's to do placement.
Fortifications plus something with Skyfire, not bad.

| I've entertained the thought of using the Aegis Defence Line in conjunction with Imotekh's night fighting and a quad gun if flyers become a problem. There shouldn't be a problem placing it even with existing terrain already in place. | |

Did you make it Orcy? (Orcie) (Orcee) how would you spell that?

| I like the idea of the fortifications in theory (haven't gotten in a game yet).
I also don't see how some armies are going to be able to deal with flyers without the basic baracade + AA gun. So I don't think it would be right for a TO to deny people access to at least this this.

I am going to try the defense line, grots and the AA gun first. I will probably try a bastion too.
(I am not sure if the grot/gun/defense line would really be any better than a big pack of Lootas, though.)
When do you deploy those things? When you deploy your army? before, as terrain?
It woud be a lot of fun to 'deploy' the fortress of redemption! Klunk!

| In friendly games I think you place them when you place terrain, if it's a tournament then it's unclear whether you would replace one terrain piece or reset the whole table. That would be a TO decision but I don't think the defense line would require either just placed before deployment and you should be good to go. | |

| It's covered on page 120. Basically placed before anything else and the presence of fortifications count against the placesment of other terrain elements.
A big second on Warmonger's T.O. comment.

| 10 lootas in a defense line with the quad gun is a lot of fun!
