The Jade Samurai Competition!
That’s right everyone, the Art of War Gaming and Miniatures is hosting the first ever
Jade Samurai Competition.
What is this you ask?
Well it’s a painting and modeling competition, that’s what! The show cabinets at the Art of War are getting a little stale and it’s time we get a few more awesome models to show off! So with the release of Sixth edition Warhammer 40,000 we think it’s time to test the modeling and painting skills of our local community.
Like the other ultra-famous painting competition, the Jade Samurai is going to be broken down into three categories:
Unit/Squad, Monster/Vehicle,
Character,
and best overall.
Any model from any system is allowed, however, the model needs to represent something from Warhammer Fantasy or Warhammer 40,000. Ultra awesome conversions and unique artistic license is allowed, just make sure you somehow label the models in a way in which people can tell what it represents. The winner of each category will receive a $50.00 Art of War voucher good for any Games Workshop product. The best overall winner will also receive the first ever Jade Samurai statue, proclaiming their amazing abilities!
So how will winning work?
Like another really famous dancing reality show, the judging will be divided between customer votes and Art of War owner votes. When your model(s) are presented for display, they will be assigned a number and people will be able to vote over the course of two weeks. Once that voting is complete, the owners will vote and the overall winners will be selected from the mixing of those two items. Don’t worry, we’ll have an engine in place to make sure people don’t stuff ballets and vote a million times.
In alignment with this, the owners will also be competing for the grand title (and bragging rights) of Last Samurai Standing, a side competition where the customers get to select their favorite model(s) painted by the owners. Obviously there is no owner vote on this one, so will be totally determined by the loyal Art of War customers.
Completed Models are due on October 28th for display. They will be put into the display case for voting until November 16th. The winners will be announced on Saturday November 17th online and at the store. You do not have to be present to win.
If you have any questions or comments feel free to post them on the ART OF WAR forums or talk to one of your awesome Art of War Owners!
We look forward to seeing what glorious creations you come up with. Good luck!
