So I have a PS3, should I even consider a 360? Looking for opinions

That depends. The 360 (IMO) has the better games. Now, that may change with time, but overall, it has the games that appeal to a much larger range of people than the PS3. Mass Effect, Halo 3 are just two of the games that I love that are only on the 360. Also, it's great to be able to track friends progress with games, through the achievement functionality, which adds some to the experience. Matter of fact, a few of my friends and I have a Guitar Hero II and III (with 790 in II and 255 in III, respectively), and that adds the competitiveness to the games that the PS3 doesnt have at the moment. But, it all comes down to whether you like the games the Xbox has to offer. Take a look at their catalog and see if the games would appeal to you, and make your decision off of that.

I'd say 360 now, and then perhaps PS3 in a year and a bit.

PS3 is hurting for a really good exclusives. PSN is also still no where near Xbox Love, even if it is free.

K imma consider a 360. I just hate the way they nickel and dime you with the machine. I mean really...100 bux for a wireless adapter. then there are controllers, xbox live sub. thats been my big turn away, that and the fact that i have heard tons of horror stories about the red light of death

Yeah, consider waiting a few months... the new machines with the heat sinks should be in the retail channel by then.

They do give anyone with the red ring of death a free xbox along with free shipping and everything. Their way of making up for all of the screw ups.

Well, I received the red ring of death once. Not fun, but the thing is, when I sent it in about 5 months ago for repair, it had the new heat sinks in it, so I haven't had any issues since then! Smile

You look at it, though, and it's a great gaming system, and it's cheaper than buying a gaming PC (which is what I used to do). They do have some third party controllers, so you can pay a little less on those... But, it's all a tradeoff, I guess. I mean, up until recently, the PS3's price would give you the 360, a year of Live, an extra controller, and maybe a game (if you got the premium and not the Elite).

Ever since Sega went by the wayside I moved into Playstation systems. Generally happy with their approach.

Although my buddy has a 360 and let's me bum time on it. So networked with good people on that system even though I do not care much for Mircosoft.

Basically what I need to do is rob a bank and get a PS3 and X-Box 360.

i would say 360 just for the sake of having a lot of good games. the ps3 may get better games in the future, but for now, 360 takes the crown.

if you decide to get a ps3, just get elder scrolls IV: oblivion. that will keep you entertained until other games come out. lol

yup, with a slightly worse frame rate.

The cell processor is a double edged sword indeed.

I prefer the 360, mainly for the titles available and Xbox Live. I suspect Sony to treat their online customers the same as they did with the PS2. Thier customer support was non-exisistant, I would say around 75% of the peeps playing Socom 2&3, were using some form of feedback tempering(stand-by switch, mod)

It really killed the online appeal, you could only play with people you knew. Unless, you enjoy fighting flying terrorists with a rapid fire RPG's Mad

Haha, I remember wall glitches being huge on that game.

Sony's online has improved a lot, still doesn't hold a candle to xbox live.

... although it is free Sad

Matt you get what you pay for.

My son just got an Xbox 360 and I am highly impressed. Looks Incredible in 1080p on the flatscreen. If your not playing games in 1080 whats the point.

Well, Novaman, the Xbox only outputs games at 720p, so you're not actually getting the full 1080p output with it... But that's ok, though, cause unless you have over a 50 inch TV, most people can't tell the differences between the two.

But, I just had an experience that really makes me glad I have a 360. Within the achievements on Guitar Hero III (which is on all three platforms, but getting specific achievements is only on the 360), there is one called Meet Your Maker, and you get it when you go online and beat one of the developers of the game in one of the competitive modes. Now, I had gotten that on Saturday this past week (I'm still a little flabberghasted by it... was not expecting it at all), but if I were to have had the PS3 version, there would have been no way to have known about it! It's silly, I know, but I thought it was really kinda cool to be able to know that I had played against one of the guys who made the game!!

bjoesphob1 that's not true. Xbox does support 1080p, perhaps it is your TV?

Also, PS3 has a trophy system, very similar to the achievement system. It is not fully integrated yet though. Not sure if it is in GH3

Yup I know, been a member since day 1 on the original xbox. Easily the best online network for gaming (better than most on the PC side too).

Huh, what was I reading? I knew that if you used the HDDVD player add on, that it had to have a separate HDMI cable, but now that I think about it that was my version of the 360 (but I bought mine over a year ago). Maybe the newer versions support it now and mine didn't? I do remember something that was saying that it was only 720p, but I do know my memory is like a seive...

Nope, it does depend on whether the game supports it.

Whether or not it does is located on the back of the case.
