I pity the Foo' Empty
PostSubject: I pity the Foo'   I pity the Foo' EmptyWed Mar 12, 2008 1:32 am

Danny told me to stop by and say howdy...so here I am.

Yet another spot to waste time at work.....AWESOME.

I play all sorts of non mainstream games with the long term goal of wasting money in the eventual hope the company will go belly up or change business models w/ so I am stuck with a lot of useless product for a game I despise.

Very Happy

CJ, you don't remember jgemrich from WoHaG? He played confrontation and apparently now AT43. He is also an amazing painter.

What do I play? Bear with this and the commentary. I'm not sure if CJ wants to know how well I play so he can take advantage of me on the table or not. jocolor

I play(ed): Confrontation 3.0/3.5 - I was fairly good at the game and still have a few armies. I've been selling my excess metal b/c I really can't use it. I'm willing to play "Old School" confrontation but recognize it currently is a "dead" game and I haven't played since Aug 2007.

I may play: Confrontation Age of Ragnarok. Why may? The number of figures it takes to play is not an issue as I have this size of force for Dirz and Goblins. However, the figures are removed at such a rapid pace that I have trouble using the metal models painted to a decent standard. It plays a bit like AT43 (which I like) but I think I'd enjoy the game more w/ the prepainted plastics. Setting up that much self painted metal and then pulling it off the table quickly (especially w/ fragile models) doesn't go well and since it's a fast game you want to play fast. In the end I may base coat and "Dip" my metals for the troopers to play or just say to heck w/ it and buy the plastics.

AT43 - UNA player: It's a fun/faced paced game and has good strategy that can be layered into the game. The reinforcement points are a nice mechanic. I think I'm a decent player but I haven't played in about 60 days. But it is easy to pick up and I can carry the army in a plastic container.

Infinity: Currently my game of choice. Force: Combined Army. Small D20 skirmish game based on Animae/future earth. Extremely deep tactically and I'd be happy to give a demo to any interested. Produced by a Spanish Company (Corvus Belli) who have long produced historicals. Recently (Jan 2007) translated to English. Games are played between 150 to 300 pts which is about 10 to 15 figures. Most commonly played at 250/300pts. Each side fully activates before the other player goes but each activation (w/ LOS) generates a reaction order (ie. shoot back/dodge/Alert other figs...etc). Figs are available online from several retailers and locally (kinda) at Krystal Keep games in Kettering/Dayton. www.infinitythegame.com
I'm a Noob at this w/ a good sense of mechanics and tactics.

Painted Armies but never played (or only 1 demo)
WHFB: Orcs & Goblins
Hordes: Legion of Everblight
Flames of War: British Desert Rats (mid period)
Helldorado: Saracens (French game by Asmodee)

Armies that need paint and have never played
Dark Age - Brood (www.dark-age.com) another d20 system.
WH40K - Tyranids

Can't say I'm looking to expand but PM me w/ what you have.

@ Bob..... I'm having a good time w/ Infinity. I should set up a demo for you sometime as I'm getting a second force in the mail soon. It really is a nice game w/ great level of complexity and tactics. Not for everyone and it is a bit like Confrontation in the fact that there are some rules areas that don't hold up to scrutiny due to translation issues but I'd say it's significantly less then Conf.

Last time you PMed me the links I'd checked out the rules and some forums to get an idea of what to buy or avoid, force combinations and such.

The only two bad things to say was the limited poses and the hardship in ordering. Is it being played closer to Cinci these days? If so may be interested in getting in on a future order.

Yes...they are playing at ACME periodically and Krytal Keep. Krystal Keep is carrying the product line. Not fuly but enough to pick up some starters or rulebook.
