| For a theme if there are some dedicated orc players and imperium you could theme around that.
What about 1850? Is 1750 set because of the GT's?
I think unpainted armies should be allowed to play. There should be sometime of bonus for painted armies, maybe a 5 or 10 point bonus based on the actual number of points available. I do like to see painted armies, makes the game more enjoyable. Also if you are trying to promot anything it makes it easier for people to walk up and see a green orc army, grey space wolves, red khorne, etc... The alternative is a bunch of grey and black models that get hard to tell apart.

| Yes painted would be my favorite to play in, however people like myself who have a full time job, wife, kids, and going to school, I will not have time to paint my minis, no matter how far ahead the tourney is. I'm more about the game than the hobby. I am slowly painting my armies and if you looked at my list tou can see I have a lot to get to. | |

| I'm thinking prizes would be for 1st 2nd and 3rd, with a players choice prize that can only be given to someone with a fully painted army.
Steve: Yup 1750 because of GT's.
Not sure if this is the event to work a theme in. perhaps a campaign weekend sometime in the future would be a better event to theme.

| What kind of format are we looking for in the tourney? and how many games per each person? 1 day event or 2? and yes I realize it may be too early to say so nothing is set in stone. | |

| I'm thinking one day event, 1 game before lunch then 2 more after.
first game opponents are randomly drawn, 2nd game 1st and 2nd place play one another and 3rd and 4th play one another and so on and so on. Same for the 3rd game.
this way the "elite" will quickly separate from the others giving the other guys more of a chance to win some games.

| Missions will have certain points that can be rewarded......we will classify a scale like they did with Ard Boys for how bad you got beat up by. Either way....everyone will get points and will determine ranks. | |

| We can do it just like most places do. Win all three games and you are the winner, if you two people tie go to victory points. pretty simple.
Or we can do it using the GW battle points method.

| We should get Chad back on here. And what about an odd number of people? There shouldn't be that auto massacre thing like with 'Ard Boyz. | |

| Average points or something like that.
Ideally we would have a backup player (store employee maybe) that would be able to step in short notice.

| The average points is best for the bye, if we fail to get the backup idea of yours going. | |

| WOW so i dont know HOW this thread went undetected on my radar.. but I am very happy to see you guys are going to set up a tourny down here. I have been waiting for a while.. they are a great way to learn more about the kind of army you play.. you will learn QUICK too. So.. ideas. First of all entry fee should be no more than 20 bucks.. hopefully more around 8-15 ish area. This should cover free pizza at the lunch break for everyone in the tourney. Also prizes should be army boxes of your choosing, or just gift certificates. We need to talk to the sci-fi city guys about that. Who would ref? i know its crazy.. but we do need a few people who really know their rules to be available to be pulled over for a judgement. This way a 3rd party can be the enforcer of rules, and no one would have to keep leaving their own game to tell some other nubs how to play. Finally.. terrain etc. should look as good as possible. That could be the biggest problem, actually, because sci-fi city does not have the best selection of terrain. We would need a few people to be dedicated to that. Since we are talking after this quarter, you should AT LEAST be able to have your guys primed. I think WYSIWYG is definitely important, and primed should be a requirement. Just get a can of spray and let your guys have it. Trust me ya bunch of slackers you guys have HOURS more free time a day than i will ever get... matts got my back on that claim... and i have guys that i would have primer and paints shipped down to me for and have some wysiwyg warlocks on jetbikes for tomorrow if i knew there was a tourney coming up. You will get it done. Painted, however, is too much to ask at this point. Matt... i have already been working on a list.. -_- If there is anything i can do i would love to.. but it would have to be something like making a poster or i dunno anything i can do from home b/c i can't make it up to sci-fi whenever i need lots of notice. But i am offering my services. | |

| hey ryanscav i haven't seen you around these here parts lately but thanks for the large add on.
as for your terrain idea... allot of people have allot of terrain to add to the tournament and i mean allot of terrain
the ref could be matt or marc or someone with allot of veteran skills in the rules. they can even play while they ref. so the refs can enjoy as they set down da law
and finally for the entry fee i agree but even 15 bucks can be too much... maybe we should just charge 10 its even, affordable, and should pay for everything
thanks for the ideas though they where all good, any more ideas on terrain layout?

| The ref is simple, whoever is running the store as long as they know the rules(or we could always just look the rule up and ask whoever is running the store) that way everyone who wants to(matt and marc both will Im sure) can play | |

| your gonna ask the employees of the store to learn the rules of the game we are all interested in? If marc and matt are agreeable to that, i suppose they are allowed to.. but the point is to have a neutral party. Not that he ever would.. but if matt was reffing and did something sketchy rule-wise to some kid well that kid might just believe him b/c after all he is the ref.. however everyone can get rules mixed up. It would be best to have a few guys (maybe buddies from other stores?) who we could invite to free pizza for their services.
I agree that 15 is pretty steep.. however you will be surprised how much pizza you feel like eating after a long day of 40k... haha. No that would be fine with me 8 or 10 or so.. but it really depends on the prizes etc.

| Eric would be reffing........
You can't run the tourny and play....big advantages....
$10 is minimum to say the least. And it would cover prizes.

| Not sure Eric is up to snuff enough to be reffing. I don't mind sitting. We'll see. Maybe Chad (let me know if you are lurking around). - Quote :

For real, maybe you can get my back for a nicely designed logo in the other forum
