This is a fun list. Ive been planning on doing SM when 5th comes out. My intentions have always been to do both Tau and Marines....

A lot of the load outs are pretty dodge.

I guess I would try and decide what that command squad is supposed to do, sit there and pour heavy bolter fire at the enemy at which point you should save all those points on lightning claws, or move forward and engage the enemy at which point the heavy bolters won't be able to do anything.

Also, if this is planned for 5th edition, be aware that there is a very high likelyhood that 1) Scouts will be elite choices instead of troops 2) You will not be able to play around with squad sizes as much 3) You may not be allowed to take that many speeders anymore. Since you are still working on your Tau, I'd wait to see what the new codex SM forces you to do before you start worrying about a list.

I actually have used a pill box Command Squad but it looked like this...

...what you're after is the Rites of Battle anyways and this keeps him useful and cheap.

I even toyed with a Razorback [Twin Hvy Bolter] tossed in to go off on its own, mobile cover or create fire lanes as a wreck.

Well....since I never played Marines before....I come to you guys humbaly for advice....mwhahahhaha.

Yeah, my comments are right along with Johns...

Work out what each squad will do and then army them appropriately. IMO the mast kind of blows in assault compared to both other marine HQ options.

Also, risky time to build a marines list.

I'm going DA...I want to prep up for Xenos. If you guys remeber....this was the ultimate goal to play Xenos along with my Tau

For a xenos hunting army why not do an Inquisitorial force (as long as we are going the non-competitive route) that has elements of guard, deathwatch and perhaps regular marines (from codex DA if legal, or regular SM dex modelled after DA unit sizes etc if it's not legal).

That is about as xenos hunter as you can get.

Until codex xenos hunters of course

I like the =I= suggestion with Deathwatch but at least do a DA successor chapter scheme if you decide the full Marine route. Angels of Redemption have always been my favorite.
