| I'd pay attention to the way squads are bought and built out in the DA and BA codex... as codex marines is sure to get the same kind of partial nerf when it's 5th Ed version hits late this year or early next.
Other than that, you can't really go wrong with 10 man tactical squads led by power fist wielding veterans.
I'd just buy the safe choices for now, or come here with what you intend to buy and we can advise you as best as possible.
OR base your army selection off of the DA or BA codex, as they are already "5th Ed" codices

| Ditto on the power armored Space Marnines. With the supposed importance on troop choices in 5th these guys will be good in most situations.
Be cautious on buying any vehicles. Some of the biggest possible fallout appears to be what net effect on different types of vehicles will be.
I can't see them dicking over Terminators like they did when 3rd Ed came out. So they should be a safe bet.
Don't take this next bit as fact but there is something about infiltraitors/scouts getting to walk on the board from other table edges. If that is the case SM Scouts and/or Scout Bikers might get very sexy, very fast. I'd be eating a cold plate of crow if SM Scouts with Bolt Pistol and Close Combat Weapon become worth buying.

It all makes sense now on why BA & DA Scouts are Elite

| Yup, and here i was thinking it was to stop the terminator en masse drop.
Scouts do look pretty sexy though...
Scout bikers are the way of the dodo though right? Can't remember if they are in the BA codex.

| You will all just have to live in fear of the 13th company Storm claw biker squad charging in 18 inches with 11 PF attacks. | |

| Haha, until your book gets a redo that is.
I don't see you guys keeping them if they are gone from all the regular books.
Makes sense for them to go though, it would be a bitch having to deal with scout bikers in 5th.

| True, but Jervis is afraid to redo the SW codex cause he doesn't know what to do with it, so be prepared for me to be running around with army lists from an absolutely ridiculously oudated codex for at least a little bit more. I'll continue to have cheap powerfists and scouting bikers but also no attack bikes, incredibly overpriced force weapons and poor leadership psykers. | |

| I think it's a little unfair to say he doesn't know what to do with it... it might not be his highest priority, but he knows what to do im sure.
In fact, the only comment we have had about (in recent memory) it came from him.

| Over on B&C there are some quotes from him about being hesitant to tackle it at least for a while due to not quite knowing how to bring it up into 5th edition without removing much of the flavor, but those could be made up, who knows. I still bet it will be a while until we see one though, at least into 2009 | |

| The suck in 4th, but in 5th they would have been good... probably too good. So way of the dodo, now... let's get back to helping the OP rather than talking about scout bikers | |
