So, what are the tournament rules and how will scoring be handled? Also if you do not have a painted army will you still qualify for the prizes?

We will link to a rule set (one GW already has).

The rules are pretty simple though, bring a 1750 point army and be ready to play. The missions will either be decided in secret or predetermined. Either way, the players won't know what missions they are playing. So prepare for things like escalation, night fighting etc.

You should also know that Imperial Armor rules will not be allowed (just like a GT).

We will have the rule set soon. The OP will be updated.

CJ,

I'm honored that my attendance is such an important part of your tournament experience.

I hope you can find a way to still participate even without me...

What type of format are you using for soft scores? This is my favorite version of sportsmanship and army composition.

Sportsmanship

Army Composition

Score

Description

Score

Description

1
Our opponents were prompt to report for the start of the round.

3
Our opponents' armies were a representation of a competitive tournament force.

1
Our opponents came prepared to play and brought all required items to play (dice, templates, rulers, rulebooks, codices, pens, calculators, etc.)

0
Our opponents' armies were abusive and totally over the top. We needed a full bottle of Listerine after the game to rinse the bad taste out of our mouths…

1
Our opponents appeared to measure movement and assault distances accurately

1
Our opponents put forward a good faith effort to play at a timely pace and complete the game in the allotted time.

1
Rules issues that may have arisen during the game were handled amicably by our opponents.

1
We had fun playing our opponents.

1
We would voluntarily play this team again.

I'd love to get involved with this (sounds like a blast), but the only bad thing is that I don't know the rules well enough to be able to play very quickly (IMO). Maybe I might just come and watch?

Just pony up and play, the best way to learn is by doing.

That time limit isn't that scary, and if the game starts to drag you can just start trusting your opponent instead of continuously referring to the rulebook.

The more people we have, the better the tournament experience will be, so don't be afraid and get all those painted guard on the table. Plus guard don't have too many weird rules, they just try to shoot at things and then die.

We really need people to come out and support this. It will be fine for both beginners and veterans.

The time limit doesn't matter. If you aren't done, then the points are counted up as is. Happens all the time at tournaments.

plus we have some time before hand, try get some games in and learn.

Hope to see you there

Hey, I know I can't make it, but any thought on using the leaked pdf rule for board edge/first turn.

That was one of my favorite rules changes because it eliminates the whole first turn gamble. I really hate feeling like one dice roll impacts the game so much. This way you can prepare for it.

Ok, After being on planning comities for a couple conventions I thought I would ask some questions to see where the even coordinators are at.
So, how many are working the event?
What is needed?
Does the hotel supply chairs and the regular tables for gaming boards to go on?
How many people are you planning on having show up?
Beter question is how many tables of terrain does the coordinating group have readly available and how much (table wise) can you get ahold of.
Whos bringing a laptop with an excel spreadsheet to track scoring?
Whos working the door until the event starts? This person should have an assistant to help check army lists from people who didnt preregister.
Are you going to have a volunteer list of people helping with set up. Bringing tables and terrain, things of that nature.
Have you talked to gaming stores around Cincinnati and maybe even Dayton to not only advertise but to see if the stores would like to donate figures, gift certificates terrain (temporally) or anything else.
Just a few things off the top of my head.

CJ you crack me up, as always.

This should be a little more helpful.

So, how many are working the event?

Currently two people are working the event, which won't be an issue with the numbers we will get.

Quote :

What is needed?

We have boards and plenty of terrain, more boards and terrain can never hurt though.

Quote :

They have chairs, and tables that we can put our boards on.

Quote :

How many people are you planning on having show up?

Between 14-20. Rough estimate.

Quote :

Beter question is how many tables of terrain does the coordinating group have readly available and how much (table wise) can you get ahold of.

We have enough to do around 12 competitive boards. We could use more boards. Terrain is also always welcome.

Quote :

Either me or Makari

Quote :

Who's working the door until the event starts? This person should have an assistant to help check army lists from people who didnt pre-register.

One of the event "staff". The army lists that arrive the day of will be check after people arrive and as soon as possible. If there is an issue hopefully it can be addressed before the end of the first game so that other games can be run properly. If a particular list is impossible to fix without radical changes then that player will have to be disqualified.

Quote :

Are you going to have a volunteer list of people helping with set up.

Everyone who can be there early enough will help with set up. Except terrain, which we may have the two staff set up or have people roll on (I place you place style) during set up before the next mission is announced.

Just a few things off the top of my head.

All done.

We plan to start around 11 at the latest. With people arriving at 10.

We will play 3 games, 2 hours a piece.

11-1 Game 1

1-2 Lunch

2-4 Game 2

4:30 - 6:30 Game 3

Then prizes, as a rough estimate. This hasn't been finalized.
