I was able to pick up some spulk termies on ebay so here is a WIP.

The paint schema is a complete copy of the Sept WD article using Blood red mixed with Dark Flesh.

I drew a line down the middle to see the difference between layers. There is still a layer of extreme highlight to go on the figures right and 2 layers for the figures left.

The figure currently has 4 layers on its right and 3 on the left. (if you were standing as the figure)

Blood Red: Dark Flesh 1:1
Black line (base:2 parts black)
BR: DF 2:1
BR:
Orange Red

next steps on armor.
Orange red/Vomit brown (1:1) next stage
Red glaze
Reclaim highlight with OR/VB mix.

What did you use to cut him off his base? Where did you find the fancy new base?

Smile

Looking very good so far.

I thought about trying the painting schemes in WD, but I Decided I didn't quite like them. (The colors, not the paint jobs) I don't like the way the dark flesh tones down the red. I like my Blood Angels more vibrant than that. Of course, we talking about a guy who's nearly totally color blind, so I may be seeing the colors differently than everyone else. Smile

What I meant was, how did you remove the mini from it's permanently attached base? Do you use a Dremel tool?

I used a razor saw to cut him off the base.

Finished up the armor and base coated the details. The details are a little rough on this figure. I use a heat gun vs. a hair dryer (hey.. it's what is handy) to dry between coats. Well after the primer I hit it with the heat gun but forgot to turn it down to low.

As you can see the claws on the right are bent but I really messed up the chains. It will be a challenge to make them look good.

This is a really big pic of the figure. Hope it gives you some idea of the time spent to blend the armor.

Looks awesome! I imagine a hair dryer would be safer, I'm surprized it didn't hurt it anymore than it did, heat guns can put out some serious heat. The battle damage rocks Exclamation

You know I used to keep a small low powered electronics/computer fan on my desk to facilitate faster drying. Just rigged it up with a little power supply and a switch.

But now I just use a hair dryer. Smile
