| Stage 12 Continued Highlight w/ Fiery Orange and dot the rivots w/ chainmail. Stage 13 Skin Highlight 1 w/ Flat Green Highlight 2 w/ Goblin Green Counter Shade w/ Cavalry brown This is really optional but I decided to do it to add a little life into the skin. It was streaky and kinda meh on some of the figs. This helps blend it together and makes the face stand out more. I think I took the picture of the worst looking one. Stage 14 clean up No pics here just did some quick clean up on bases, paints on other areas where it got a little sloppy. Also finished the "fur" hats....Ivory, wash w/ Ochre brown and flesh wash. Highlight again w/ ivory dry brush. Stage 15..... WAAAGHHHHH (well really 12 more to go to finish the first batch) |

| John, I think your style suits Orks/Orcs more than anything else I see you paint. I think you do desaturated so well that it really works when you paint models like this. They look awesome. Putty they only get 6+ t-shirt saves and die by the dozen! I think the painted squad will be getting killed first | |

That is where the shading comes in to play. Your extreme will most likely be a silver of sorts w/ a touch of color. Take a look at this article.... http://coolminiornot.com/article/aid/649 |

Since I'm not an artist by trade what is desaturated - Muted correct? Yeah - browns, greys, off tones tend to draw me to a more realistic style - althougth desat isn't necessarily realistic either. Then you can set the model up nice w/ the reds as the accent. Orks are down and dirty. I generally like to paint them up. I can do eldar and other "clean" look models but I have more fun with the dirty stuff at times. - Quote :

| Yeah, desaturated color is a less vibrant or muted version. So normally it creates an earthy feeling. I think it really suits the way you paint (not that you can't paint clean, we all saw Eldrad). - Quote :

| The article was well written and seemed rather informative. Save for my ignorance of how to do the shading and how to apply it. I think it would have helped. Im usually not this slow its just with something like this I would need someone showing me in person and watching the strokes to be able to grasp it properly. | |
