| There really are so many cool toys in this book.
I'm thinking a nurgle force on top of this one is in the cards. That Epidemus guy is just awesome. A whole army that wounds on 2+ w/ power weapons! Yes please.
Anyway first run is here. Let me know if you have any questions on the units... as I realize this book is new.
Demons 1750
HQ
BloodThirster w/ instrument of chaos
=255
Keeper of Secrets w/ instrument of chaos
=205
TROOPS
Bloodletters x 16 w/ Fury of Khorne + instrument of chaos
=271
Bloodletters x 16 w/ Fury of Khorne + instrument of chaos
=271
Deamonettes x 13 w/ transfixing gaze + instrument of chaos
=194
FAST ATTACK
Seekers of Slaanesh x 8
=136
HEAVY SUPPORT
Demon Prince w/ wings
=140
Demon Prince w/ wings
=140
Demon Prince w/ wings
=140
First Wave = Bloodthirster, Demon prince 1, Demon prince 2, Bloodletters 1, Seekers
Second Wave = Keeper of Secrets, Demon Prince 3, Bloodletters 2, Deamonettes
The big weakness I can see right now, is that I have no icons. So I'm thinking of dropping one of the GD's in favor of two heralds that can act as mobile icons. Then I can make sure to get one in each wave.

| Not bad but do you think you really need the Instruments? 5pts to win a tie? You think you are going to be tying often enough to warrant taking them? If you remove the instruments you just paid for an Icon on a Blood letters unit... Also it may be worth dropping a Prince and upgrading the other 2 princes and maybe add your second Icon. Oh and DSeath Strike is really Cool! seeing as you can't move the turn you deepstrike I do want to play test more! My 2 cents... | |

| wait... move the turn i deepstrike? Am I missing something or do you mean shoot (like everyone can...)?
I think deathstrike is over priced, but you do have a point about the instruments. Might be worth dropping them for an icon.

I was saying the Deathstrike (shooting) is really cool and gives you something to do the turn you deepstrike instead of twiddling your thumbs waiting for your turn again seeing as you can't move or assault the turn you deepstrike. The range is mute cause you will "always(should)" be with in 12" of something to shoot....

| Yeah, but 20 points for one shot seems a bit lame.
I'd rather upgrade a prince... although they get very pricey with the upgrades, and with no instant death on demons... i just don't think any of the marks are worth it.

| Epidemus gives special abilities to all Nurgle units when a certain number of enemy models are killed by nurgle units.
1-4 kills = no effect
5-9 = all plagueswords wound on 3+
10-14 = all nurgle models wound on 2+
15-19 = all nurgle models with feel no pain get it on a 3+
20+ = all nurgle attacks are power weapons.
So I wouldn't mind running him in an all nurgle list. Would be a lot of fun.
I just playtested my list (in adobe illustrator mind you) against the list bryce (sorry forget the last name) played against me in the tournament.
1750 Necrons (estimate)
Lord w/ res orb 10 immortals 10 warriors 10 warriors 5 destroyers 5 destroyers 1 monolith 1 monolith
I took my licks when I came in, even losing one whole bloodletter unit deepstriking off the board. In the end though the demons won through, just too much power for the necrons in close combat, despite monoliths providing portals to get extra WBB rolls. Phase out at the top of turn 4.
A few things I learned:
Seekers are nasty (5A on the charge with rending at I6... yes please! Only 17 points a pop)
The keeper of secrets is nasty (7A on the charge at I10... YES please!)
Seekers are nasty
The bloodletters are good at soaking up wounds during the early shooting, and whooped up in close combat. I think I will toy with running plaguebearers in their place for my first wave though. A lot tougher for the early game. Or maybe even some shooty tzeentch. I'll probably come back to the bloodletters though, they performed well once they hit combat.
The bloodthirster is a monster, probably overkill... I may drop him for another keeper... although 12" movement is nice.
Seekers are nasty. I'll probably try fit more in my list.
Everything performed well, I bet most armies will have a hard time against this one. Holotanks will still be tough to deal with though.
Most important lesson... icons are important, that one unit scattering off of the edge was pretty bad, and the other scatters far away didn't help either.

| Not especially. Well not counting close combat anyway. They have a few weapons but they are either short range or tzeentchian
Mobile gun armies would shred a demon army imo.
It will also be very hard to get huge wins, most games demons will lose a ton of units just to make it there.
Kind of lame for GW to make them an ONLY deepstrike army. Time to read up on 5th Ed DS rules.
[edit]
Ok after reading the 5th rules for DS I was pumped, then I went to rumor thread and realized they made them a bit worse again (well rumored to be worse).
In 5th If my guys roll off the table/into the enemy or i can't complete a ring of minis... then roll on the table below
1-2 the unit dies (but only counts as half victory points)
3-4 the opponent places the unit (this hurts, luckily it is only on mishaps)
5-6 the unit goes back into reserve
In regard to 5th in general... I think it helps demons alot. Being able to perform a run after DSing in to hug cover better will be huge for demons. Troops scoring may change things a bit. I'm thinking I will drop a DP and bulk up the daemonettes and bloodletters. Then add seekers if i can find the points. Only problem is... seekers are insanely fragile (In my last game they were only hit by one badly rolled salvo of gauss and still lost 4).
I'm going to try for another playtest today, this time against my own DA... I'll post pics in here as this is kind of a blog of my playtests now.
