Marc has made a couple trips over to my house to play with the airbrush. He gave me permission to take some photos of the results. I think they look AWESOME. Once a little detail is on these guys they will looook ridiculous on the gaming table.

Did he just use some stencils for the airbrush, or is all that freehand?

We worked out this technique about a month ago. But Marc is responsible for it's execution.

We used thinned GW paints in the Airbrush which turned out much better then I expected.

Base coat of Liche purple (3x coats over black).

Cut out masking tape (tamiya) in "urban - camo" designs and apply to model.

Hit with the layer of codex gray.

Tape off a second time and hit with fortress grey.

Remove tape and..... Viola.....you got what you see.

Each layer is given 2 to 3 coats..

They're getting there.
Thanks again John for all the lessons and "supplies"

I'll give your Orks a run next time while JMarv paints those beards.

Urban basing for sure, which is why I'm hesitant to carry the greys over to the Fire Warriors. Probably will go with the purples to avoid losing the models. Still have yet to find a Kroot scheme worth salt.

Wow thats sweet. Nice color choice, you didnt go for black and red like 39827578 people do for their armies... even if they are not evul. A good sleek color that is elegant yet techy.

Well, purple is a badass color! I don't think enough people use it. I mean, what's more menacing than Ray Lewis in the Ravens purple and Black?

Plus, it's traditionally the color of royalty.

Actually I think what makes the model really pop is its LACK of black. The grey undertone gives it a nearly star trek feel. Which for tau is good imo.

Just regular Kroot would probably work best.

Maybe a few bits of tau equipment from time to time so that they fit a bit with the rest of the army.

I think Kroot look best when they are in their regular scheme. Perhaps throw in a few sneaky conversions with the urban theme and voila!
