| Does Belial make the Termies a troop choice?
Also, I'd recommend making your lists at 1750 cause thats what we usually play.

| Yes, Belial makes them a troop choice.
1750... I think should be easy to expand to that. But the league at Yotta is 1500 which is what will be my first goal.
I also failed to specify which termys are lightning claws or hammer and shield. any suggestions?
250 pts is another deep striking termy squad or 2 dreadnauts. Glee!

| Mix them. I would have 1 thunder hammer and 1 lightning claw with 3 regular termies or 3 more lightning claws.
Ask Matt. He has a magic combination he uses. I don't remember what it is.

| I like to run 5 Terminators Vet with Power Weapon and Storm Bolter (it's a free weapon for I4, always take this imo) 1 with Lightning Claws 2 with Power Fist and Storm Bolter 1 with power fist and assault cannon or power fist, storm bolter and cyclone missile launcher. In my experience this works in most situations and still gives you enough fire power to deal with units. I tend not to take thunder hammer and storm shields as most of the time I'd rather be positioning my units to take advantage of being able to move and shoot at full effectiveness, and the loss of the storm bolter hurts a lot. I do like to throw in a cyclone missile launcher here and there though. Especially in 5th. I only ever run a fully close combat unit (lots of lightning claws and a chappy) if I really think I'll need it. This kind of unit HAS to ride in a LR of some sort (crusader being the best option) to stay alive until they get to their target (DS is just too risky.) They either win or lose the game for you. and man am I still unhappy about not getting the new Storm Shield and Cyclone Missile launcher from the Sm codex. | |

| Agreed,
Remember that DA cyclone missile launchers are heavy 1 and storm shields are in close combat only.
Therefore they overpay for these items comparatively. Better to roll the assault cannons. Also, chainfists are generally not needed. You'll have many powerfist attacks against rear AV. A chainfist is only ever needed against a land raider.

| So chain fists are just a bit overkill. Should I take them to fill in the extra points if I got them? - Matt wrote:

This is good to know. I was thinking of making groups or tactical support groups, close combat, ranged, dealing with troops, dealing with vehicles, ect. However, I don't know much about the game yet. Deep Striking sounds fun, even if not good. getting some troop transport in there as well sounds good. Just getting an idea of what to do. Thanks for the help Matt... any way I could get you to PM me some of your lists so I can get an idea of what is optimal? Ryan
