Yeah i'm looking for some hardcore feedback, the only thing I ask is if you have advice for a radically different unit, please explain your reasoning.
Notice the IQ is not in a vehical and the dettas dont have any people in them, this is to give me some options for deployment, IE suicide melta CCS or IQ in chim to extent his range.

It's late, so this is going to be quick, but here's what I've got so far.

The Inquisitor needs a ride, no questions asked.

Plasma is not so hot anymore (no pun intended). 1 squad is solid to wipe out TEQ, but you definitely want two of them to switch over to melta.

I'll have to take another look to see if I see anything else, but otherwise I'm not finding anything.

The IQ has a ride, just not a dedicated one. If i'm not playing KP, the CCS hops in a detta for a suicide mission, or one of the plasma vets hop in for objective claiming.

FYI, most mech vets run alot of plasma, I have BS4 and it has totally rocked every game iv played, even rapid fire has always done awesome.

I'm pretty sure the mech vet list is melta. liet the chimera guns and leman runss take out trrops. I'm hearing that the PBS is not so hot as eerybody is pretty much mech. II'd say if you are going to run plasm, you don't need them all in chimera thanks to the longer range. With meltas you rush forward to melt tanks and MCs. with plasma there is simply no need to get so close, so you can pill box I guess. Mech eldar and mech tau will give you fits. I fell you have way to many bodies in your PBS. Leadership doesn't need to be dropped that far down.

No its plasma for sure. Chimera multis will not take out troops effectively. I do agree about the PBS, they arnt so hot, but I'm finding them more of a utility.

I dont really know what your comment about chims is, have you ever seen what any troop shots do to a vet squad? Even ork shots blast the unit, I would NEVER run plasma vets out in the open.


Plasma not get close? Except for rapid fire you mean?

Mech tau havent been a problem, Mechdar I havent faced enough to decide, jetbike seer councsil is the only thing in the game I get scared of.

Um, PBS are not worth their points with less models, the only thing I would consider is dropping 1 to make the list under 1500, other than that, the models effect the str of the large blast attack and I lose d3 models everytime I fail a LD9 psychic test. I will always run 8+ of them.

Thanks for the input, mechdar are certainly a good match but I think every list needs a counter Smile

I dunno though Chris, all the mech vet lists I see around are melta... but I can see that plasma is pretty premo a lot of the time.

Still, when you think about a lot of what you are going to be facing (mech lists of all kinds) then melta is pretty solid. Guess it depends on your scene.

I'm looking at building a mech guard list, and I'm not 100% sold on PBS in 1500 or less, just seem pricey for going against all this mech in 5th Ed.

Your probably correct on both points.

I will be playtesting more to see what happens.

Really liking the balance of anit-tank, anti-infantry, and anti-power armor (termie).

The only big soft spot would be objective control. I've actually have had fewer troop choices in a larger point totals (not entirely by choice). So not saying drop stuff to get in a unit of IG Platoon since tactics can cover the issue too.

IG squads just disappear so fast under most any kind of enemy action. The newer cover rules have helped so much but they still die pretty easy, as they should at their point cost. It has frustrating me many a time. 8-)

Hm I have to totally disagree, dettas with troops count as scoring, if I drop the PBS, that will be another vet choice. dettas can move 24' in a turn.


Id say I have more objective goodness than most, as in those games the dettas get used defensivly and can jet around keeping a 4+ save

*points to chimeras* My guys don't die easily at all, especially with the leman russ on each side do you never shooting at less than armor 12.

IP wouldnt make sense as I couldnt mechanise them all.

Just an update, i'm doing pretty well...

Lets see....

Demonhunters: Not much to say, very easy win. Its a hard list to run for sure. I didn't have a problem really, the PBS just fired their LB. The vendettas had to move in close after tank hunting to avoid the shroud. My IQ got the best of some termies, he dropped just close enough I barely made the roll to shoot them. The plascutioner wiped the squad and the detta IKed the commander. Kind of a novice move on his part. Tabled him for the win.

Tau: Esshh I mean i'v always loved feared broadsides but I have a new found respect for them. I hate T5 2+ in cover. The dettas get a war trophy for popping two hammerheads on turn 1. I really really am scared of the broadsides, the kid knew how to outrange me while keeping them in cover. I know everyone swears by the gyro thingy that makes the broadsides relentless but if you play like he did you wouldnt need them. Those BS definitly made their points, a two man squad took down both russ, and both dettas. I think he got lucky though, I wast paying attention to statistics but they both survived 3 turns of shooting by dettas and other stuff. I tank shocked a group of firewarriors blocking my way to his base while a unloaded vet squad hugged mine. 2-0 bases for the win.

SMurfs! I want to start off by saying I think this game could have been cloer as this guy really knew his stuff but his list seemed sorta casual. Lesson of the day: scouts with camo are nasty. The mission was KP and I had to fight tooth and nail for the scout KP. He kept going to ground in cover, it sucked. Never really faced a 10 man? squad of devs before.. Actually worked well. I kept inflicting casualtys and he kept shooting lascannons at me, I didnt like it. another lesson learned is even one bike from a bike squad can take down a whole unit of exposed vets with no problem.

Ok thats all for now, wont be playing ard boys as I am helpong run it but should be fun regardless.
