This link is in someones forum signature. Someone was complaining about the excessive amount of terrain at a GW Gamesday. So the guy did a little visual display.

Interesting...discuss,what does everyone think? Most of us dont play with anywhere near that much. Me personally, I like to have 3 decent size pieces of area terrain a few line of sight blockers and some scraps of terrain here and there.

One of the last things he say is this is the suggested minimum that the rulebook said should be used (pg79).

I think the passage about using that much terrain is more of a rule of thumb. Just my opinion though.

His example is a little extreme in the shapes used. Once 12x12 section of a city block (for example) is a lot different than 10 tiny strips that all provide cover and impede movement.

As long as both players agree to the terrain in use, seems fine to me.
