I like the mods, but the one issue I have, and it's especially with the carnifex, is that the black blends in WAY too well with the rest of the model. Maybe it's just the lighting in the pic, but it's hard to tell where the looting ends and the carnifex begins.
From the looks of it, is it just flat black? If so, use some successions of mixed gray and black (starting with more black and less gray, and work your way up to all gray in steps) and do highlights on the black. This way it helps it to stand out as more than just.... black... And, maybe mix some purple with white (not much but enough to lighten it some) and go around the edges very carefully of the purple to accent the edges. I think that would help to make it more distinct.
