| I hope so.
I am always about getting the good deals. With the economy now a days and game companies increasing prices I want to know who has the deals and product I need and want with out having to drive around town or being on the phone all day.
You know the old saying "Closed mouths don't get fed", speak up, get people in your store and one or more may survive so we can actually have a decent store in this city.
I want to have a store that cares about its consumer and the community. We have had a bunch of stores open up in the last few months. Not all of them will make it to this time next year, and if they do they will be on their last leg. So whoever gets us in their store and has quality events are the ones that are going to survive.
This forum since day one has never been affiliated with a store nor do I ever see it happening. We are all about community and whats best for us gamers as a whole.
So in closing...make me want to come to your store, promote everything you can, give me the best deal and I will be there to support you (the store) and your continued success.

| Well said chad.
@OP: This website is not just about store ads, but we don't mind hearing them (for reasons chad stated.) Not sure what gave you the idea it was ALL about ads though. Plenty of content and discussion going on here.

| Since someone opened the can o' worms: It's driving me f'n crazy. I'm really, really tired of the massive amount of advertisements from particular places in the gaming forums. If we must, please create a retailer section, so I can just ignore those.
Nothing worse than seeing that "unread" symbol only to find another advertisement.

| This.
I may not be a big poster, but I am a big lurker... unread is usually my reason for opening a topic...
And while I dont mind it now and then, it seems that this section has been nothing but advertising for a while now. I would prefer to see speculation as to what the next codex or product from GW or other company will be.
I can go to their website to see what they are doing. I dont come here for that.
Prefer to go local than Bell of Lost Souls... but I can.

| Sean just about every post you have responded to recently you are aggravated with someone or something.
I agree with Matt on his comment earlier in another post. I don't mind the advertisement, but I do think it should be kept to the topic it is about, and not in multiple sections.
@ FrostFirus - We have completely different content than BOLS, so if that was meant as a threat of you not lurking here anymore it sounds pretty empty.
I am happy with our forums, I am happy with our Community...I am ECSTATIC about having stores in town now that give a rats ass about us and want to take care of us. With as many gamers as we have in Cincinnati, the content of the stores over the last 10 years has been pathetic at best. We now have some solid stores run by competent people, let them sell their stuff. Lets finally be proud we can buy stuff locally and know we are supporting stores that have our best interests in mind.

I agree with Matt on his comment earlier in another post. I don't mind the advertisement, but I do think it should be kept to the topic it is about, and not in multiple sections. Three things. I didn't agree with the t-shirts, and it irritates me that the forums are becoming an Eastside Cards & Games running billboard. The name changing I think is silly, but whatever. I was losing track of who was who. I've given plenty of actual input on 8E WHFB. I'm not going to be playing Hordes/Warmachine, which seems to be the present hotness, so I haven't even commented there. I offered AoW to use my painted Malifaux set for their opening/demos. I posted a mini I just finished in the gallery. But if that's pretty much everything, then I guess you're right. I wasn't planning on saying anything about ECG, but because someone else did--and particularly since it's someone that doesn't post often--I felt it appropriate to voice my opinion also. Yes, we know you offer 20% off. WHOOOPDEEEDOOOO. Guess what? So do other stores in the area. If I want to buy Warmachine or Hordes, you can get it at 35% off online. Plus, it'd be different if EVERY other store did it. They don't. I mean, great... You got in this new thing. And it's still 20% off. NOOOOOOO WAY! It's ALMOST the 2nd coming of the Beatles.

| Two things I do like to hear from stores on this forum because I like to go to one spot to figure it out and most of the LGS boards are blocked at work (actually all of them).
1) events and what is being played when. I appreciated knowing that Malifaux guys are meeting on Sunday nights at ECG. Sure maybe I can get that on the ECG site but I don't go there.
2) New product coming in. Restocks, on the shelf etc... Why? b/c I buy local for the most part and if it is somewhere this keeps me from driving all over kingdom come to find what I want. Example. It is interesting to see He11dorado and Alkemy coming into ECG. |

| Sorry, was not intended to sound like a threat. Which, "hey, can you do something about your content that I do not participate in at all" sounds like a very hollow threat.
Just saying.
Did not mean to rock the boat, but thought it was an interesting enough question to ask.

Ok Sean go ahead and step off of your soap box. The forum hasn't only been supporting EGC. He is trying to make everyone feel welcome and letting them know that he offers the discount all the time. There are plenty of game stores around here where you get the price at full retail so yea it is a big deal. I enjoy supporting the LGS myself sure if I need really pinch a penny I will buy online.

| I think there is a healthy balance. That is all Sean is saying.
And the fact that a FF was the first to point it out means that probably a lot of our visitors feel the same way. If you look at the top 5 to 7 posts in the News section they are very heavy w/ new store promotion (understandable with the openings) and promotion of new items in stores.
The news should be more about "player" comment or introduction of news or interesting product.
EGC is a little Over the Top about it. I can't blame a guy for wanting to get his name out there and letting folks know what is in town. It is also nice that he is willing to compete for business (w/ Internet retailers) while providing a good location to game.
I think we're just saying mix it up a tad. Talk the games with us and welcome in the new guys.
Every welcome shouldn't be followed w/ 'Hey I got 20% off'. The welcomes should be genuine and the fact that his store logo is an avatar and there is a link in a sig is plenty.
I don't want to pick on EGC only. Newport came in to promote and AoW is adding stuff too.
If an owner is coming in to talk about the game. ie. Warhammer Fantasy and their likes/dislikes or rumors about the new system in the WHFB section...awesome.
IF they want to educate the boards about preordering, discounts, and event weekends I think Matt has an excellent solution for a new section. |

| I think Witt is also upset cuz us Westsiders have SQUAT over here on this side of town unlike you guys on the Eastside now have what.....9 stores now?
Where's the love to the Westside? I got money! I spend it, but would love a place to play too.
Don't get me wrong. I have hitt EGC..and will plan on hitting AoW.....but as for regular gaming? Nope.....sorry. One car and taking 45 minutes to get there doesn't pull me enough to want to play.
God i miss World of Hobby. Centralized. 20% off. And i miss the Saturday sounds of the guys running their cars on the track and then you hear a big crashing sound as they tear up their car coming around the bend......
*sigh* | |

*sigh* ROFLMAO hahahaha ok ok I'm sorry, ok Im not but I have to say this... For years a person has been able to draw a map of game store in Cincinnati and they had all literally been on the West side of town; the exception of course being Acme. The reason there has been a surge is because everyone with a plan to open a store recognized this and as the economy began to show signs of recovery leapt on the chance to open over here. I’ve been traveling to the west side since I moved here for nearly all the events or meet ups I’ve attended and even ran to Dayton a few times. If the forums have erupted in a bit of love for our east side stores its because a lot of us are finally getting an easy fix for our desire need to play. I would give you credit that there’s not as many stores with dedicated play space but when I did a tally there’s Yottaquest and Sci Fi with tables and space ready to go and Up Up and Away will do their best to hook you up when you need it. Being able to play does require an active community with events and meet ups regularly happening. A few of us did meet this past weekend to discuss that very issue and potentially helping out stores around all of Cincy with events / leagues making interest and availability of play more available for all of us.

| So where is the line for us Retailers? I posted an event going on at Art of War concerning Warhammer 8th Edition. Is that spam? I want people to know about the event as we are giving away a bunch of stuff. Mike posts a couple of posts about the Grand Opening Bug Hunt event. Was that spam?
Not that I am against it one way or another, but there are no forum rules about stores posting stuff.
Art of War will try to keep the posting to a minimum. We apologize if our posts annoyed/offended anyone.

Welcome to CAG a gaming forum for the entire Gaming community. In the begining it was meant to be a basis for a small group of guys to communicate so they will be able to hook up and play game of 40K. Here we are in 2010 and the forum has grown drastically and now encompasses many genres of gaming. CAG Forums is aware of the need to adjust for the influx of games and members and we now sit on the brink of having a greater influence in the community to help the players and the local game stores be more interactive with one another to help grow the community of gamers as a whole. I personally do not mind the occasional advertisement, but I do sympithize with those that may find it annoying. The forum is open to anyone to address any concerns, post questions, announce news, or even sell items amongst other things. I find it refreshing that someone actually stated how they felt towards a particular issue they had with the forum as it helps the forum see how people respond in both a negative and positive light and we are able to utilize that feedback to make the forum that much better.
Many fine points have been posted on this thread and a solution is being processed that should help the Players and the local Game stores to get the right content to the right people. I ask that everyone please be patient with us to work this out and especially the FLGS as each will be contacted soon about any concerns and how we can progress further to help promote all events, so we will never have an issue with finding a place to play.
And just as a quick breakdown because our store section needs updating.

| Sean, I added a few of the game links to the post that Matt made a few days ago, though I only added a couple (and took off Acme), so we're a little more up to date Oh, and Rockin Rooster is either considered Price Hill, I believe (West Price Hill, if it is). You'd think since I live less than a mile away I'd have been there before, but alas, not yet... | |
