| Looks like they're making space marines playable - how lame is that? According to the fluff only a hand full of them can take over a planet in a day yet there is going to be 40,000 of them running around with boltguns and plasma guns, supposedly rare weapons. | |

Post heresy marines are not all they are cracked up to be. Several stories I have read they are more like the equivalent to 100 men or so. -Fireborn -thunder from fenris -and one random one where they fight abunch of korne cultists led by the man skewer. Very plausible for a playable hero in a mmoprg.

"40,000" refers to the date in which all this is happening. Not the number of troops running around. Anyway, I think it looks pretty damned cool and I'm going to give this one a go when it comes out. I still havent had a chance to play Warhammer online LOL

I still havent had a chance to play Warhammer online LOL I think he means that the majority of folks signing up to play in the universe will choose Speez Maureens. If 40K MMORG attracts 100,000 players...then 40% of those choosing to play a Space Marine is likely. Even if they are different varieties of SM (Chaplains, Libbies...dreds...etc). The thought that there are this many SM running around on 1 planet is a bit absurd from the "fluffy" perspective. However, it doesn't mean that the game won't be pretty Kick A$$. |

| Is it all going to be relegated to one planet?? I would think, though I do have to admit I don't know, that they would make it to where there are multiple planets, and each one is either occupied (SM, Orks, Necrons, etc) or an exploration planet that isn't yet occupied. At least I'd think that would be the best way of dealing with it! | |

Oh.. I don't know. I just thought in an MMORPG you interacted with other folks. So my assumption is that the environments would have to be contained somewhat to start. |

| The Star Wars MMO (Galaxies, I think?) had different planets. I think in that one you started off in a certain place depending on what class/race you were, and then you could expand out from there, and I believe that's how the Knights of the Old Republic will be as well, so it is possibly to split them out like that.
How fun would that be to be an Ork and be able to travel to another planet on a Space Hulk LOL!
